Another PB today, 9.61@144 and 6.18@114 1/8

Just switched back to drag radial from the slicks. They are obviously better but not with consistency that I would like. For temps we had today it still ran pretty good. On the 9.61 pass it was 86 degrees and DA was 2800 or so. Pretty close to the same on the 6.18@114 in my first round of eliminations. Someday it will cool off and we will get it into the 9.40s, thought for sure I could get into the 9.50's just didn't happen.

Nice! What size rear wheel and tire are you running?

M/T 305 45 17 Street R. They just are not consistent like my slicks were, but when they do hook they are quicker then the slicks. I made 3 passes in the left lane, didn't hook good one time, right lane I hooked it 3 out of 4 times. Guess I need to keep searching for the best air pressures also. I was running MT recommended about 20 lbs for the weight of my car with me in it. I need to get another gauge to check with incase mine isn't correct. All in all really happy with most of the runs and I'll go down one more pulley size to get me to about 17-18 lbs of boost but just can't do it till I get this combination to hook consistently. I'll work on it at the LS Fest, should get plenty of passes there.

nice runs. that 1/8th mile is killer.

I was thinking about trying some slicks. I cant seem to do any better than high 1.4's with dr's on our local tracks and even that isn't consistent. I am curious how much slower the slicks are assuming you hooked with the dr's? lets say I knock .15 off my 60' with slicks will that just be lost up top?

Thanks Parish, we can still go faster for sure. My old drag car back in the 80's ran 6.22@108 and it was 2550 with me in it. Nasty ass little small block for back then and just went faster in a street car thats 3925 with me in it. I think I still need a few more passes on the R's and maybe they'll get more consistent, at least I hope so. I love 1/8 mile racing, that's basically all I did back in the day and I beat my old drag cars 1/4 mile also, it ran 9.72@136 so these cars are pretty impressive to say the least. I have your old axles in the car right now. So far so good after 7 passes. Hope you get your motor back together soon.

No idea how much my Zl1 weights... but it’s full weight with a drag pack .. I’ve found that staying above 20psi is more consistent with the Mickey Thompson r ..
My problem is spinning them around the rim ... beadlocks should be here this week ..

I'll give you a little tip. Got this from Kents Hot Rod Garage and MT. Permatex makes a High Tack Cement and I used that this time. You also have to mounts these Drag Radials dry and you can't use any tire lube to mount them. We put the tires on the wheels beaded them up and balanced them. Broke them back down and put a light coat of cement on the bead of the tire and wheel. Waited till it tacked up and then beaded them back up. Put 30 psi in them and let them sit for 24 hours. Solid and not spinning that I can see. You could just break yours down, clean up the bead and put the sealant on and air them back up. Good to go.

That’s most likely the problem ... lube was used(white tire paste) .... figured that would be gone since I do some street driving on them and your tip would have solved it .. but then the current wheels I have “racestars” don’t even have a knurled bead that would help .. ahh well .. see what happens..

I wonder how many out there that are spinning them on the wheels, and don’t even know it.

Nope, never. I run those and Mike told me they will be this fall. Try breaking the tire down and cleaning that lube off. If you have to use some acetone and clean the beads up on both. The high tack comes in a small can with a brush, I think you'll be surprised how well it works. See I help everyone, I don't care that you don't run a Magnuson, it would be cool if you did. I just want everyone to run as fast as they can. I'll try to catch you if I can. Man you have a big top end charge at 150. That's really stellar MPH.

Thanks, we are sneaking up on it. We still have another pulley to go but not yet, wasting my time now even trying it and don't have it yet. Its being built for me but couldn't get it by the Fest. The 2650 isn't breathing hard yet and probably won't on my car and we are only running the blower at about 17000 rpms and we can go to 25000 rpms. That kind of RPM cost more then I'm spending.

Beadlocks will be here Wednesday.. it’s a peace of mind thing for me... trying too make some hits at the track this weekend ..

Yeah my 150.3mph run was a 9.67 .. with a 1.495 60 and 6.37 117mph 1/8
Best et is 9.63 @ 149.6 with 1.51 60 and 6.34 117mph 1/8

Difference is 9.67 run was off the converter.. 9.63 was off idle.

Either it’s a top end car or I just suck getting it too the 1/8th.. I’m still I a newbie...11 runs with the car.

You'll figure out the combo. Your making some serious grunt for sure. Your 5 mph faster then my best 145, my car runs hard thru the 1/8 and does pretty good on the back half of the track. That mph will pick up again once I can pulley down and make some more boost. We've not had any cool air to run in, all my passes have been mid to upper 80s and DA usually in the upper 2000's to little over 3000. Not Ideal conditions for going down the track. But those temps will come down in a month or so and we will be ready to bang the gong.

Nice pass, Greg! I predict a 9.50 at the lsfest! Do you want to buy your old drag radials back lol!
Got my racestars from Kent's last week. Glad i saw this post before i got the tires mounted. Are you using just the permatex? I was considering adding rim screws but would prefer not to if the permatex alone will do the trick.
BTW, i see it was you that got Parish's axles! I kicked myself for not seeing those in time.
