In the ZLE? No. A8 was a dead trans by 2019 when they put an auto in the ZLE. The A8's issues would have zero bearing on GM's decision to no longer offer the ZLE with just the 6MT transmission.

This all day. If there was a front engine version of the DCT in the C8, that would be an awesome transmission for the Camaro!

The 1SS 1LE 6-speed is the most genuine, affordable, driver’s car in the Chevrolet lineup - and I hate to see that image diluted.

Well, it will be an option
A10 is a stout tranny for track duty and some may prefer it. Personally, i think it is good that GM has offered it.

Unhappy

I remember reading a test driver of the ZL1 commenting that GM tests had the auto transmission version quicker at certain road courses. The tester offered the comment that the auto transmission was well programmed, picked the best gear, shifted quickly, and for most drivers it would be quicker and more consistent around the track.

If you drive your car in commuter traffic, as I do 50% of the time, an automatic is very nice. For many, track days are 5% or less of the cars actual usage. Throw in age and bad knees ... an auto becomes a good choice.

I'm old.

+1 the less workload on a driver, the easier it is to drive, the faster the laps. All things being equal. Absolutely zero doubt here. As much as i completely appreciate those that prefer to row the gears and even eschew auto rev match, no lift upshifts, or PTM, it is great to have *choices*. And it doesnt make the car any less spectacular. To the contrary imo.
