There is a solution. For a while, my “daily driver” was a 2016 Chevy Cruze that I was leasing for $63.55/month. I kid you not. I’m sure Ford or GM or even FCA have some ridiculous lease deals in Idaho that can be your “when I need three seats” ride, leaving your C8 for fun times.

Hmmm, that's tempting (and very cheap!). My wife has a 3 row crossover (Volvo XC90) so it's not like we'd be stranded with a C8...I think I would just lose my soul a little bit every time I had to drive something like that. I know I do when I rent a car like Hyundai or Kia for business travel.

As for the C8, I understand there will be more fancy gadgets in the foreign cars, but this car is a steal. And it has a number of fancy USEFUL gadgets that people will love as well. Useful like the 1000 point - memory front spoiler lift for curbs. Stuff you see in the Audui A8 and other $150k luxury vehicles that help protect the front end.
I just love cars in general, and while I'm sure the gt500 will be a beast, when they announced the price, I was out. I was planning on getting into a ZL1 for 15k less. Now that the c8 was announced, and it is what it is, that's it for me.

We have a 5 week old baby boy lol that's why the gt will stay. I really only need to haul the kid 2 days a week, and I also really love my Mustang, and don't want to get rid of it.

Ok I got it out of my system.

I think it already was clear that from a performance standpoint, GM Gixxer'd the competition. That was before the C8 Vette. Now things are completely different. At the same price point, there is no car that can match the ZL1, ZLE, Z06, and now the C8. It will be interesting to see what happens when the C8 hits the streets and tracks.

Here is one matchup I'd like to see:
C6 ZR1 vs C7 GS vs C7 Z06 vs C7 ZR1 vs C8 vs 6th Gen ZL1 vs 6th Gen ZLE

And all in auto configuration.

Just to keep things a bit more interesting, I'd like a GT350R thrown in along with a GT500 (both configurations).

Winner takes on the Ford GT for a no holds barred slugfest!!

Well here is the issue with all this hype over the 60k price tag for the C8. This is for the base package, and from what I have seen from the photos this car desperately needs the Z51 package and other ungraded options to make it look good. I don't think many base cars will be sold at all. What we need to know is what is the price for a Z51 package upgrade, and other options? My guess the car optioned with what buyers will want will be in the 75-80k range, at this point is it a better buy than the present 650-hp ZL1-E, which can be purchased in the mid 60k range?

2LT package is is about 4500 and Z51 package is 5000 for C7, but I expect GM may raise option prices significantly to keep base MSRP this low. What they’re offering for 60k is ridiculous.

Ford is so late with the GT500 that it’s obsolete before it’s even on sale. CF GT500 MSRP plus ADM will get you into a loaded C8 for what is, in comparison, a single purpose drag car that is not even comparable in any other way. And you’ll be able to buy a C8 for yourself, your spouse, and each of your children for same cost as one Ford GT. Toyota schooled just as badly when you consider what the Supra will offer for what it will cost OTD. Like the GT500 will be cheap and easy to make ridiculously fast but in every other way the cars are not on the same plane of existence.

Did ANYBODY ever think you would see GM as an industry disruptor again? What this car offers for the dollar has completely disrupted the performance car market.

A stripped down c8 z51 will probably not be much over 65k. If we start talking all the bells and whistles then any car can climb up in price real quick.. Anybody who options their c8 out to 80k probably wasn't all that worried about the base price to begin with.

C7 Stingray is $55K MSRP base.

1LT with Z51 and auto is $64K.

3LT with Z51 and auto is $74K.

GS Stingray is $66 MSRP.

So let's say, for argument's sake, that the C8 Base is $59,999. Following the trend, the Z51 added on should keep it under $70K. A fully loaded C8 with Z51 or whatever designation they give it should still be less than $80K. And I'm guessing a Z06 version will start around $85K - $90K. And there will be no markups at all. So for $85K to around $110K or more, the Z06 version will be untouchable by the competition.

Also, it is debatable, but I believe that even the standard C8 will run circles around the C7 with Z51. And I think it'll give the standard ZL1 and the GS a run for their money. The ZLE tho, that will be interesting to see. But I don't think the GT500 base will stand a chance against it unless it is on a track where the GT500 can stretch it's legs and can keep up in the turns.

Visually, a Z51 only has a rear spoiler, nothing else is visible. So the base car looks great. The Z51 pkg should add only 5k just like the C7. Maybe less because dry sump is standard on the C8. A 65K C8 Z51 will put a hurting on a 65K ZL1
