Took my Stage 3.5 ZL1 1LE to the drags, lol

So at CamaroCon I decided to drag race the 1LE for the hell of it. Even though I have approx 900fwhp and am setup entirely for road race, I can’t complain at my 10.8 @ 130 run with a 1.8 60ft on a 19inch wheel and R888R considering I’ve never launched any manual car ever... Of course the bog is very evident and a few good launches were given up to wheel hop at the 100-150ft mark.

SO... my odd question is what wheel and tire combo is “recommended” for a car that is just drag racing for fun and not chasing tenths? I had 19” MT SS and they were squirrelly as hell with my stuff suspension so I removed them after only 200mi.

Should I go 18 or 17 or is my 1LE suspension just going to screw me no matter what?

What pressure did you set the MT at? I run 17 PSI on the street SS and never had issues with wheel hop or traction and ran a 1.64 60 foot. 18 inch will be fine.

Are you a 1LE? I ran mine at 18psi. They never hopped or spun, but they caused the back of my car at speed to move side to side. I suspect the sidewall and the 1LE suspension were a terrible match. Had a couple unplanned lane changes at 100+

It's better to say BHP like every other person/ manufacturer/ car reviewer does about a vehicle's engine horsepower.

Nitto or Mickey will be a good tire. Make sure the rim you get will fit over the rear brakes. I'd say 18s but.

Fair enough. But like I already said the Mickeys were sketch. The 18s will clear the rear brakes no problem. So Im looking for alternative recommendations

I’ve had good luck with the Nitto NT555R drag radial, 305/35/20. You can run them on OEM wheels, cruise fine on the street, and pull down 10’s at the strip no problem. They’re probably capable of going even faster, guess I need to spin the blower harder! I’m sure there are better options for hardcore drag racing, but I’m pleasantly surprised at how good these have been. I feel like these are a more street friendly drag radial vs MT, etc.

Built and tuned by Mike Franz with RedBarnRacing in SoCal. You can find him on Instagram. I have 12k miles on this build and not a single issue. Strong car

That's normal when you run a drag radial outback and street tires at the front... I have the same issue anytime I don't put skinnies on.
