Having owned and raced a 370Z, I wouldn't touch it.

The power increase is nice and all over the VQ37 (which was freaking GUTLESS for what it was).

The lines look fine, rear end is a nice homage, but the front end appears to be a boring mess, to me.

Most importantly, Nissan I found to be a royal pain in the arse when it came to doing anything that involved actually racing the car. The 370Z's brakes - INCLUDING the Nismo - were absolute trash. Like, you might get 1 decent hot lap in if you have some skill, and then it turned into a skating rink. I suspect the new one will be just as awful.

In the end it just came off as a really fat 2-seater car (>3400 lbs for that was pretty abysmal) with almost zero practicality and it was worse in every performance regard than my nearly bone-stock 2002 Z06.

Compared to an LT1 coupe, it's just a no-brainer to me.

The video says it all - the Supra is a better bargain if you want to keep up with the Mach 1 and the BMW engine is better to mod, at least for now. If the Supra shows up in a manual then I think the Z is at a disadvantage.

Watched a few videos on this yesterday when the embargo lifted. Had briefly toyed around with the idea earlier in the year of getting one when it came out (since at that point I wasn't sure if I'd ever get an allocation for a Camaro), but I just can't get over the looks. While I like the interior layout, with the exception of some of the low rent plastics in some places, I just don't care for the exterior at all, from any angle.

And now that some preliminary driving impressions and pricing has come out, I'm not sure if it's worth the money. While the base model seems well priced, the performance version seems a little high for what you get. Not to mention that I'm sure it will be next to impossible to get these for a decent price for the first year or two anyway.

I might still be interested in getting one at some point in the future, since I've never owned a Z car, but the price-to-performance ratio would have to improve, and the exterior styling would have to be changed for me to even consider it.

Keep in mind the base model Z ($40K-ish version) does not come with a Limited Slip Differential. For that alone you need to pay $10K more for the next trim level. That's a big mistake IMHO. They need another trim level in between, or offer the LSD as an option.

I think the car looks great, and for comfort alone, I would take it over the Supra. The Supra feels way too small inside whenever I sat in it at auto shows. Whereas the 370Z felt much better.

I'd still take the V8 Camaro over either Z or Supra though. The practical side of me wants the larger trunk and back seats for extra storage space.

I've seen the new Z in person here in Nissan's back yard at Nashville Cars and Coffee several times. I'll wait and see what the NISMO version is like, with improvements especially in the front grill/fascia area.

I just gave my 300ZX Twin Turbo to my daughter and her husband in Virginia. They drove it back just last week.

All great looking cars. I hope the SiL and the daughter take really good care of the 300ZX. Hell, I'd be hinting around like crazy that the family will is going to depend on how well the 300ZX is cared for.

I hate to say it but everything is going up in price. The Nissan Titan that I bought last year ran me close to $70k. Granted it has just about every option available. I wish I could convert some of my cash into something that's not so volatile right now. It's funny that buying a car right now may actually be considered an investment if you can find the right "future classic".

Yeah, the price of all vehicles is going up, especially those that are desirable and more limited in production or brand new models. The MSRP for my 350Z was approximately $35k in early 2003. It's amazing how much vehicles have in creased in price in 20 years.

I agree, they screwed up the pricing on this car. But in this market, these OEMs are looking to make a pretty penny before the economy tanks. I don't need expensive forged rays wheels . This car would be in contention at sub 45k with just an LSD. Even with the price increase, the '23 2SS is a pretty decent deal. I think they will introduce a performance pack next year off the base price, that seems more realistic for a quasi-rehash. Not bad looking though.

They're both responsible adults. She's an attorney in the Washington DC area. They registered it as an antique with appropriate tags and insurance, and will keep it garaged and well cared for I'm sure.

I was pretty excited to test drive one until I heard the engine in the latest release of video's. pretty underwhelming and couple that with dealers charging over MSRP, it dead on arrival to me.
