Do the pucks easily fall off when held by hand?

They have magnets in the sleeve part, but they are not very strong. It is best to hold it up there with your hand, until the jack makes contact with it. ZL1Addons makes ones you can attach to the pinch weld permanently. I have an Amazon version, work just as well and cheaper.

I liked the MagPads but was concerned that the puck was so loose on the four that I purchased that it would fall off in your hand. I called ZL1 AddOns and was assured that a tight fit was the norm but then the story changed on a subsequent call. Regarding the billet pieces you have, is the weight of the car supported by the shoulders of the aluminum pieces or does the pinch weld make contact with the bottom off the groove in the billet piece? Thank you, Chris |

makes contact with the billet piece. When I installed them, I made sure they were pushed up as far as they could go.

The puck on mine is very snug and doesn't slide at all unless I really push it hard, and magnets also hold in place very well on pinch weld while I apply jack at track--never drops off until pulled. If I don't remember to check, or notice the warning tag hanging, I would easily drive away with it attached.
With a loose Mag-puck maybe use some thick grease or Loctite purple (weak) in center of puck slot to keep it snug in place. I guess I got lucky with mine, I only use it at track for wheel rotation/tire swaps as I have an LR-60P lift at home used with the jack pads for any real work. |
