Anyone Put Car Seats In The Back Seats?

Kind of what the title says.. Does anyone throw car seats in the back and take the kids out for drives?? If so what do you use to protect the seats?

Ill be looking to put my kids in the back and take them out ( I take them in my 81 all the time and they love it!)

Anyone have any photos of the seats and such? I pick up my car Thursday so i haven't tried putting the seats in yet.

I have put my daughters in my third gens as they grew up over the years. Using the latch and teather anchors would be the preferred mounting points. As far as protecting the seat, shelf liner is a start. There are seat protector materials available too. A correct installation will compress the child restraint into the seat cushion significantly, so a long term installation could leave compressed placed in the seat foam and material.

I would 100% be taking the seats in and out and never leaving them in there for longer than the time they are in the car.

Our daughter-in-law has a 5th Gen and she puts our granddaughter's car seat in the back seat of her Camaro. She doesn't put anything over the seat to protect the seat. I haven't noticed any damage to the seat from the car seat, but then again, I'm not really looking for damage to the seat either. Her seats are cloth.

I have a forward facing harness seat in the back of my convertible for a 5.5 year old. Although it doesn’t get removed often I don’t think installation and removal frequently would be overly difficult.

My seat uses the seat belt for securing to the vehicle, it is not necessary to use the LATCH attachments which would be very difficult to get to. It takes 3 minutes to install and is always very secure even considering my aging back and with the top up when I clip it in. I did purchase a seat belt clip extender so that it was possible to access the mechanism while the seat as in place. This is he only modification that was necessary.

I have not looked at any deformation or indentation in the leather. I'm sure it's there, but frankly I don’t care too much about it: My daughter’s life is not replaceable at any cost, but the seat cushion is, so I make sure the seat is secure at the expense of any replaceable trim if it comes to that.

I don't have photos but I can say, especially to your wife: They will fit fine. I have had midsize SUV, Tahoes and Subrubans and as far as actually "fitting" in the seat; they car seats fit better in my camaro seat than all of the others as far as fitting goes. They mold right in, like I never thought they would. Get a mostly black and grey one and you hardly even notice them back there. I have two loaded up all the time. They are like little 4 harness race seats back there.

Booster seat, not car seat, and works perfectly. Car seat should be just fine. YouTuber “que the chaotic” has one in his i believe.

I do have car seats in all my vehicles, including my SS1LE. I use bottom seat covers. This is the best I've found so far in regards to thickness. It's also super comfy so I've got them on my own driver seat to reduce the wear and tear of getting in and out, especially while wearing jeans. Bonus, it has a pocket that will fit my big phone, so now I finally have a proper place to put my phone if someone is in the passenger seat. With that said, I do rotate the car seats to the opposite side every month or so to help reduce any permanent indentations.
