GM Performance CAI

Evening Everyone,

Hope everyone is having a great start to the weekend. I came across a you-tube video "Lethal Camaro", in which he was installing the GM Performance CAI, Part #84531831. Looks a lot like Roto-Fab's CAI. Although I am not a fan of the exposed filter look. It always looks undone to me, IMHO. I watched the install and it looked very straight forward. I also watched the install of a Roto-Fab and although they look the same, the Roto-Fab did not appear to be as easy. It could have been the installer.
Regardless, has anyone installed the GM version and can provide some thoughts on the product. Thanks in advance, Tony

Not for the ZL1, matter of fact, Most of the ZL1 unicorn mods that GM announced at SEMA never has hit the dealers like I knew what was going to happen, all hot air.

I checked about a half dozen GM parts websites all of which are indicating this part fits the ZL-1, MY 17-19. I will be the first to admit, maybe I am reading it wrong. Will call my local dealership tomorrow and get their take on the fitment. I wouldn't be surprised if these sites are wrong, I suspect they are all sharing the same parts software.

It may physically fit, I am not entirely sure. What I am sure about is the dealer reflash that comes with it is only for the LT1 not the LT4, rendering the mod basically useless and a big waste of money.

Don’t put too much faith in the dealership info you’ll get when you call them. They are probably reading from the same parts description those other websites are showing.

Called my local chevy parts dealer today and he indicated that all of his references on the part are for the LT1 and not the LT4.

The MAF calibration is the only change in the tune for the GM CAI and wouldn't work on the LT4. Entirely different calibration required.

Also, the intake itself wouldn't bolt up correctly due to the angle of the intake tube to the TB last I checked.

Lastly, I don't believe the GM CAI offered any gains over the factory box on the LT1 in terms of additional flow or hp...with the LT4, it might cost you power....

It does not fit the ZL1! I bought it from local dealer after a vin search on their parts site said it was ok for ZL. So i bought it had GM try to install it and...no dice. Returned it...they know it needs to be changed on their parts site but still haven't fixed it. It is for the LT1.

Cold Air Inductions makes a ZL1 CAI that looks real good. It is expensive and is made from carbon fiber and is a different design over their 6 gen one for the SS. I just bought a 2017 Z yesterday and may get one for mine sometime in the future. Roto Fab makes one too which performs real good. You have several choices out there.

I seen the one from Cold Air Inductions.....little pricey, but CF is nice. AFE makes one as well. Not sure I like that one! I will have to save up my pennies for the one from CAI.
