Now GM needs to make a factory short shift for the stock shift knob and boot.

Pretty sure the SS 1LE and ZL1 will have that...

Yeah buddy! Way better.

I plan on switching out knobs. Borosilicate dichro glass color matched to the stripes, paint, and interior. Have it drilled and UV bonded to an adapter. Kind of a throwback to the old akro marble custom shift knobs, but updated with a modern art glass piece.

That sounds cool! I'm planning on getting a custom wood knob... haven't decided on the type of wood yet.

They look super sick if you've never saw one in person. They are big $ for a knob but one person in a million will have one.

Do a search on ebay for Boro marbles, then one for James Alloway or Doug Ferguson art glass or marbles. They'll work in bigger size boro-dichro, they're amazing.

I have thought about a wood one for my mcss. I even have the wood ready, really high grade curly koa with a ridiculously expensive piece of burl desert ironwood for the center lamination. I just never did it b/c my blue and white pearl swirl knob fits the car so well.

James Alloway's stuff is quite beautiful, would look amazing as a shift knob. I just really like the feeling of a wooden knob, especially when when it isn't lacquered to death and you can feel the natural pores... maybe I'm strange, but it's better than leather.

I had a solid steel 2" ball in my previous car; that was fun and made shifting easier in the otherwise harsh T56 gearbox... but it was painful during the winter. I unscrewed it and took it with me where ever I went lol it just turned into what seemed like a block of unmeltable ice.

OK yes it looks ridiculously simply to pull out the boot in the video but has anyone here actually accomplished this?? I've been pulling and prying for a while now with zero luck.

Edit: Finally got it to pop prying with the trim tool!
