I saw the thread, thanks. It looks like it was a different plug and the CEL's were caused by the plug's wiring coming apart during the installation.

If you install yours and can add some detailed pictures of the installation process (a video would be awesome!) I'll then follow you with mine

I just need to find a way to raise the car

Yep. Done that... thanks. They're arriving on Friday from Amazon.

Better than jack stands (and safer). If I can't install the CAGS eliminator, at least I know how I'll be changing the oil in the future

I bought one through Amazon because it was the only one I could find that claimed to work on 2016-2017 vehicles.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AO328FW/ref=cfb_at_prodpg

The picture clearly shows the proper connector - but what they shipped me does not use a factory connector and it will no plug into the solenoid. Mine has a black connector and it is missing the indents in the middle that the factory white connector has (looks just like the picture).

So I didn't get around to installing it until the return window ran out.

If I could find one of those connectors, I would just swap it out on the thing and be done. But pretty annoying they specifically say it will work on a 2016-17 Camaro and yet they shipped me one that sure as hell doesn't.

OK - even more annoying is I found the right connector in my box of leftover GM connectors (long story) and spliced it in. plugs in perfectly. Skip shift however is still functional, so it was not defeated by this harness. Possibly I added some resistance with the splice, but that should be nothing compared to the resistor value used in these.

so I'm wondering if the old resistor trick doesn't defeat this solenoid? Or maybe it needs to be a different value.

I hate this feature when driving in stop and go freeway, but otherwise doesn't pop up much at all.

I tried today but I could not do it

I raised the car on the Rhino ramps and I could reach the spot where the plug is located (you're really tight under there), but there's not enough space to pull the old plug out and put the new one in. The sound insulation is just too close to the plug and you don't have room behind it. Not to mention that the plug's lock is on the top and it's very hard to reach.

Maybe if the car was on a lift, with better accessibility to work with tools, it could have been done.

Just to be sure: is this the right plug?

Rut roh, I bought the same one, from "Muzzy's", I will let you know if mine works on install. If it doesn't work, I'll leave negative feedback on Amazon, I didn't see anyone else say it failed. . .

You can make the skip shift eliminator yourself, the resistor values used to be on the web. For $1 all you have to do is buy the resistor, plug it into the harness and tape the end of it up. Then tape or ziptie the harness up and out of the way and tape the end of the solenoid up as well.

Viola, home made skip shift that works perfectly fine. Other option is to just hold the 1st gear RPM for 2 seconds longer, then it takes you out of the skip shift parameters and you can shift into 2nd. I got the warning on a test drive tonight, held 1st for 2 more seconds and then shifter right into 2nd.

Several options, use the one that works for you.

I still haven't put mine in yet, haven't figured out how to jack the vert, and need to bu jackstands. I have pretty big hands, so not even sure I can get to it, but it pisses me off, usually only when I'm trying to "baby" my shifts, but I'm starting to do 1-3 and 1-4 shifts anyway. . .
