Camaro's are rare in my city and the 6th Gen is in Unicorn territory in that regard. Come on GM these are great cars show them off!
I've seen better reasons to buy a Camaro on Facebook or YouTube, surely GM can do better than people with cell phones. They have something better than a Demon (ZL1 1LE) that they could make awesome ads with, but we have to see a dude interviewing people.

I hit mute on the remote or leave the room before that moron is on screen. The commercial for that segment was not horrible until that point.

As someone else mentioned. Chevrolet really needs to advertise more of their products in a better way. Have had the same complaint with how they rolled out the Silverado ads a couple years ago.

I mute every damn one of those commercials, Chevy marketing is atrocious. The "real" people commercials are probably the worst commercials produced to date by any company.

The aftermarket parts availability for the Mustang has to do with one thing and it isn't because it's an entry level car, it's good business sense. the people bringing those aftermarket parts to market know there are a lot of Mustangs out there and therefore they will tend to sell a lot of parts due to high demand. there aren't nearly as many Challengers and thus fewer potential customers therefore fewer manufacturers are willing to spend capital designing and manufacturing Challenger parts. it has nothing to do with the Mustang being less costly to buy initially.

I'm pleased to see it sell well month to month and my thirst for uniqueness continues on months when it doesn't: win win.

+1

In the end, more people seem to prefer the Mustang's Euro styling vs the camaro's Korean styling.

Snapshot of retail sales and ATP's year to date. Considering the market, the sales numbers aren't all that bad.

2017 Retail ATP's YTD (JDPin)
Camaro: $40,645
Challenger: $37,298
Mustang: $36,298

2017 Retail Sales YTD
Camaro: 33,739
Mustang: 30,343
Challenger: 23,702

While Mustang is leading total sales in 2017, Camaro is leading retail sales and doing so at a higher price point.

There were very few incentives on the Camaro for June. This probably was a major factor in the sales drop.

This is part of the problem.

GM has trained people to wait for the incentives. They come and go with little rhyme or reason.

People are now simply sitting and waiting for the next Tag Sale. I'm doing that on my SS right now. Missed it March but likely won't even think about a final MY 2017 unless they bring it back.

As for ATP, mix can help. But you also have an expensive Cadillac architecture under the car.

And GM is still paying for 1,000,000 retirees and survivors pensions (last number I knew but it is sadly dropping). Ford is nowhere near that number. That factors into the bottom line of every car and truck GM makes. That is why it is so difficult to assume profitability.

Exactly. And, Dodge was offering $4000 (or more depending on other rebates a buyer may qualify for) off of most of the Challenger line, including the Scat Packs, TAs, RTs, etc, excluding SRT cars. And, most dealers were even discounting their SRT products as well.

Mustangs also were being discounted with some healthy rebates but the '17 inventory is dropping so that may also count for some of their drop as buyers are waiting for the '18s to hit.

Good info. Kind of clarifies things.

More interesting details. Not specific to Camaro, but GM overall for the month of June.

June Business Highlights (vs. June 2016)
According to J.D Power PIN estimates, GM’s incentive spending as a percentage of average transaction prices (ATP) was 12.0 percent in June, equal to our 2016 calendar year average, and lower than any domestic and many Asian competitors.
ATPs were $35,657, up nearly $400 per vehicle.

I didn't read the whole thread, but I was always under the impression that the Mustangs outsold the Camaro because they were much more affordably priced for a "pony" or "performance" car. Not so much because the looks but MSRP you can walk out the door with them for about $5 - $8k cheaper... Now there is a trade off, you don't get as much power, but they still have modern and nifty packages and the eco-boost is nothing to sneeze at considering its competing against a 333 HP V6 Camaro and making better fuel mileage.

Not trying to play the devils advocate here, our cars are badass, but they aren't exactly affordable to the general public.

Not to split hairs...But V6 Camaro is rated at 335 hp., and runs on regular fuel. To get the full HP of the Eco-boost you need to use premium (93 if you want to get Ford's published HP/TQ rating), and fuel economy plummets if you get your right foot into it.
