Quick and easy Oil question

For you folks that have changed your oil once or multiple times in your SS V-8 LT1.

Have you found that she takes the full 10 quarts?

Or, do you have to play around looking at the dip stick to see if she's over or underfilled?

I'm thinking just pour in the ten quarts and be done with it.

Reading the literature in the manual performance supplement, it states that you can run 11 quarts of oil when at the track.

It seems that there would be zero chance then of overfilling when changing your oil by just adding the ten quarts as stated in the manual, if you can run with eleven quarts at the track.

When changing the oil in any vehicle, one should always check the level after completing the job, and adjust as necessary.

I have only changed my SS oil once myself, so far. I put in 10 quarts and found that I needed to add a tad more to have it read full on the dipstick.

Changed the oil and filter.

Added 10 quarts.

Dipstick reads full.

Job done.

(People overthink some things way too much.)

Mine takes about 10.5 to read full.

You should give the oil a minute or five to settle before you check the level again.

When I changed the oil in my 2016 SS it would take 10 quarts with filter. That’s what the owners manual states the capacity is 10 quarts. I owned the SS for about 3 years and did the oil changes myself because I wanted to make sure it was done right!
