"I am guessing those will not fit our fuse blocks?" And you would be correct, GM found an obscure fuse size no one uses...:( I put a 5amp fuse in the detector slot so plan for that, used a spare until I find one the local parts store only has 10/20A in the micro size. I ran the wire through the firewall where the sound tube penetrates, I took that off and plugged it shortly after I got the car. I'll take a look at the fuse number in the morning and follow up.

Ofer, do you have any updates on this one? Also wanted to ask you about the Uniden R7, will you be able to test the (potential) new harness with that one? I have your original radar detector harness, but I'd need something that works with both the R3 and the upcoming R7. Thank you

The R3 and R7 can utilize the same harness, their connectors are the same.

Thanks, I'd still be more confident with an "official" verification of a potential power draw difference between the R7 and the R3, plus I also wouldn't be keen on seeing its power cut when traction control kicks in, as in the topic of this thread.

The last update that I received via a PM was that he was able to replicate the problem but, is still working on a fix.

Ok we think we got it fixed, only problem will be cost, at $800 for a set of rear tires its expensive to fix, LOL so here is what we see the Uniden R3 is sensitive to volt drops, when the traction control comes on the power drops out for a short time, most other units can hold on for some time but not the Uniden R3.

So we tested some Capacitor for the right uf amount, with that said today we went out in the ZLE, where able to get the unit to go off with any amount of drifting from the rear wheels, then installed the new harness with the right size Capacitor in line and after 10 tries the unit never shut off, Now the best test is to go on the track and see if it goes off in that setting, i dont have a a track date till late next month, with that said we are sending a test unit to a member for some feed back in the mean time.

FYI I bought the 2019 harness about 2-3 weeks ago for my new R7 and just found this thread which perfectly describes the issue I am having but I can't say if it's related to traction control.

It's been driving me crazy as I'll occasionally look up after driving for a few minutes and the R7 is just turned off and I have to hit the power button to fire it back up again. I actually thought it might be the BAT Saver function which I then turned off but it's still happening.

So IF you sent me the new harness which I am guessing you couldn't have if you just fixed it, then it's not resolved for the R7 at least.

If you have a fix, I assume I will be able to swap the harness I have for the updated version so that I can stop having this issue?

Thanks again for the great service in trying to solve a weird intermittent issue.

I received my updated harness and I'm happy to report that the power dropout problem is no longer present. Thanks Jarod
