2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Sets Nurburgring Lap Time - 7:29.60
CHEVROLET CAMARO ZL1 ATTACKS THE ’RING
All-new ZL1 shatters previous generation’s Nürburgring time by nearly 12 seconds General Motors October 24, 2016 DETROIT — Chevrolet today unleashed a time-attack video of the 2017 Camaro ZL1 lapping the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a blistering 7:29.60. The new ZL1’s lap time is 11.67 seconds quicker than the previous ZL1’s fast lap. “To be almost 12 seconds quicker than the 5th-Generation ZL1 is a testament to the advanced design and technology of the new ZL1,” said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. “From the improved aerodynamics, mass reduction and 650-horsepower LT4 to the Magnetic Ride Control, electronic limited-slip differential and Custom Launch Control, the ZL1 was designed to take on the world’s most challenging track, making it right at home on any track, road or drag strip anywhere.” The only changes made to the ZL1 were the installation of data acquisition equipment, a roll hoop and Sparco racing seats with six-point harnesses. Otherwise, the car was production stock and included the following:
“Many fast laps around the Nordschleife are dramatic, with lots of oversteer and steering input,” said Drew Cattell, Camaro ride and handling engineer and driver of the hot lap. “Not so with the ZL1, which is extremely planted and stable, almost calm. With Magnetic Ride and great overall chassis balance, the ZL1 is all about being inch perfect at every turn and carrying a lot of speed.”

That is so freaking sick ! 12 seconds ?? Couldn't it be 6 or 7 ? 12 !!!!???? It'll take awhile to digest that it only cost $62,000.
At least we now know that it is about 2.5 seconds faster than a 350R |

Gotta wonder what this car would do with Sport Cup 2s on it...Their time is around 3 seconds slower than the ZR1 redo lap from 2009 which was a 7:26.4 time. The wet Z/28 lap beat the original ZL1 time of 7:41.27, with a 7:37.4. So if the last Z/28 beat the ZL1 by 4 seconds, on a wet lap, the new Z/28 is gonna be stupid fast. Like, maybe 2012 Z06 with Z07 fast, 7:21 or so fast.
The BMW M4 GTS ran a 7:27.88 on SC2's. ZL1 has got to be faster with those I would imagine...

Wasn't even using the paddles!
And that's not even an "official" time. It was posted by Horse Power Kings which is notoriously unreliable and posts click bait.
