BEWARE!!!!

My FBO 2018 1LE was stolen a week ago.. no luck getting it back and insurance is paying out.. after asking around and research I found out there’s 2 specific ways they are stealing the cars now and takes them 2 minutes.. I hadn’t heard of either one until it was too late. Hopefully this will prevent 1 of u from the pain I’m dealing with.. first way is there doing “relay attacks” (u can search YouTube videos for that).. but basicaly they have a high power antenna and get close to your front door where most have there keys, the antenna picks up the key signal and relays it to a reciever that someone else in your car has and it tricks the car into thinking your keys r in it and they can start it and drive off. So don’t leave your keys by your front door and put them either in foil or in a metal can to help block the signal… the second way is also total bullsht and gm is at fault.. anyways, they can use your vin number and using a laptop and a program from gm they can look up your key specifics and clone a key in less then 2 minutes and litteraly have there own key. Seen a ring camera video of them doing this to a ctsv.. litteraly 2 minutes and they had the car and driving away.. so covering the vin number in the windshield would b a good start.. as soon as I get another 1LE tho I will be doing kill switches and also hiding apple air tags in the car to help track it… onstar was useless in my case. They disconnected that immediately.. anyways, hope this helps save someone’s car

All SS 1le’s before 2021 are manual.

So, here's a question; How does one cover the VIN? Mine is not accessible as far as I can tell.

I think the best solution if you're worried is to install a kill switch that takes power away from the fuel pump. That's what I would use if I was in a big city and had to park my car somewhere dangerous.

It was right I know front of my house… but yea, my next car I’ll be running both a fuel pump kill switch and a starter kill switch

LOL you'd have way bigger problems if you shot at a thief unless you live in Texas. I've read all about this situation and what can happen if we were to "take matters into our own hands" and unless you can afford an amazing lawyer it's best not to go that route.

I thought the sarcasm was obvious, sorry. Just a play on his “kill switch” term.

But I will say, if a potential car thief even remotely thinks you’re packing, they’re probably going to try their luck elsewhere.

Until law enforcement steps up and handles this stuff, it’s a bad situation all around. Thankfully you’re fine and cars can get replaced…still sucks lol…!
