Stainless Power headers questions:

1. Are the supplied bolts in the kit good to use or should I reuse the OEM bolts?

2. Where the tubes are welded on the backside of the flanges, the welds are slightly higher than the flange itself. Do they need to be perfectly flush with the flanges to seal correctly? I’ll be using new gm gaskets. I can provide a pic if needed.

Thanks

I used OEM bolts.

And as for the second question, I don't know exactly what you mean, but there was no need to edit anything.

I used the bolts supplied by stainless. They work fine. I have had them on for a little over a year now. Im in the same boat as above with the 2nd question.

Thanks for the responses gents. Here’s a pic of the welds. Probably nothing but, you can feel just a tiny ridge there. Not sure that it’s actually above the flange though.
2nd pic is of the bolts. OEM are in fine shape and I also like the idea of 10mm socket head over the 8mm that come with the kit. My guess is they both work fine. There are 45k on the OEM bolts, would that warrant a change out?

Use factory bolts. I've found retorquing after 3-4 heat cycles and then maybe a month or so later saves any issues with lose bolts. And that weld looks ok to me.

As you can see ... OEM bolts have a larger head and a wider bearing surface replaces the washer.

Weld is O.K.

Welds look good to me. The gasket will take up any space that may be a concern on the welds slightly higher than the flange, also use the OEM bolts, they have a bigger head and a flat surface simulating a washer. Easier to TQ down and more hold down area on the flange.

as stated, the welds are fine. just reuse your OEM manifold gaskets. Dont use stainless' provided gasket maker as the header gasket
