I get 4 days out of trofeo's with rotating them. I can cord the fronts in 2 days if I don't watch them closely. Went through 3 sets this year. 5 hard days is good if he drives like I do. Im trying to find a tire that will last 8 days in the $1500 a set range.

The Nittos will last about twice as long as the Trofeos, in my experience. If you watch the prices over the winter they do vary, was able to get 325s for 289.00 per tire and 305s for 250ish per tire right before spring time. But you are sacrificing some traction on the rears, I actually prefer them to Trofeos on the fronts.

I got 215 minutes on mine (some of it sliding the rear for fun) and still have 2 - 3mm of tread depth. Most folks say you'll heat cycle them before they fail... I am looking to test that theory - hoping for 6 to 8 track days. |

Pipe dream right there! Haha. If you’re not concerned about how much $$$ try some Pirelli slicks. Sure they might be $600 per but double the life might be worth the extra expense. 295/680/19 is slightly taller but pretty much equal tread width. Depending on what compound you might be able to get 25-30 heat cycles on them. So at 3-4 sessions per track day you’re at 6-8 track days. Hell I’ve even tried used Pirelli slicks for $150 a piece with only a few heat cycles and they worked great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

As for 8 days... I think RE11's will last 8 days and NTO1's might last 6 days. There are lots of hard tires that will last 8 days you just have to slow down. I didn't say I wanted 8 days at the same speeds. I would rather do 8 track days a year at 5 seconds slower and 6 days on hoosiers then only 8 days on Trofeo's. I have no issues getting 4 days out of Trofeos running at the top of the pack. Left front goes to right front after first day. Then both fronts go to rear after second day. Left front goes to right front after 3rd day. End of 4th day they are all about done. But I have gotten an extra day out of them a few times. I then take the best 3 to use as a scrub set. That gives me 6 old tires after two new sets. With those 6 I can get at least two more days and some times as many as 4 additional days assuming a few of those are early and late season when its colder out. When you add that up I can get 11 days out of two sets of Trofeos. With the same logic I think I can get 16 days out of two sets of RE11's. I will know for sure next year. Those Pirelli's are amazing. I ran them on the rear of my C5. They lasted forever. I got them for $50 a tire from a Corvette shop. They were scrubs from some race team. Issue is they only had one size and they wont fit my Z28. I have thought about building a car that could run those all the way around. Getting those tires at $50 each makes it worth spending a nice amount on a car to run them.

The 3R take less time to come up to temps ( 2 laps and there good to go), dont last any longer then the Trofeos IMO.

Here you go - 305 all square. For me they're faster then Trofeos because they tolerate early throttle a lot better. ~2 seconds a lap faster (but was also a 85 vs 68 degrees)

3R 325 square setup
Has anyone tried 325s on all 4 corners in the 3Rs on stock rims? 325 square setup works good in Bridgstones so I’m curious if 3Rs would work as well.

I have not - I have them 305 all square as well. Have about 1,000 miles on them. Do warm up quicker that Trofeo, but they don't inspire as much confidence for me, just seem to be a bit looser on grip. No lap time comparisons, just feel, so may all be in my head! Don't get me wrong though, they have uber grip and if you can live with this type of tire, like we can in S.Cal - they offer a good balance in comfort and performance.
But value wise they are an outstanding performance to value - the Trofeo, not so much. For street only I would go with Michelin PS4 for sure. |
