I am wondering how come sometimes when I start my car up it is a good amount louder sometimes? I want it as loud as possible every time!

Cold start I believe keeps the valves open longer. Maybe to help blow out condensation. Check out Saabkyle's sound review, you can hear the cold start is louder.

Do you have NPP or not? Makes a huge difference lol. NPP actually does start up full open / as loud as possible WITHOUT pulling fuse 51 (npp fuse). If you do NOT have NPP, you will have to go get an aftermarket system.

Good point, my post was for an NPP equipped car.

Even if you have it on Tour mode, vehicle does start up on track mode. Just goes quite really fast if it isn't. That might be the OP's case, good catch!

Even with NPP there is a noticeable difference between cold and already a little warm start ups. I have noticed the best start ups are first thing in the morning when you do not really want it. Has a bark to it. I love the sound and will not change it. Although I bet my neighbors hate it. We used to have a guy who owned a mustang with a v6 and straight exhaust and every one hated every time he started that car. lol It sounded like crap though.

If you uncheck auto in the sound management screen, you can force the exhaust to stay in track all the time.

This is not true. I have mine in track mode all the time and it will start up loud and after it has warmed up some and rpms drop it will get quieter until you get on the gas pedal again. Only way to keep it in track mode is pull the fuse.

See my first post in the thread. You are definitely right about cold starts. My comment above was in regards to overriding the drive mode control of NPP.

I thought track mode was the loudest and would stay open all the time regardless of throttle. I mean the whole notion of this generation's configurability was suppose to eliminate the need for fuse pull...at least of the posts i've seen, but i guess people will still have a fuse pull mod on the SIX as well.

too bad.
