Track Mode (V8 Only)
Use when maximum vehicle handling is desired. When selected, the Track Mode indicator will display in the DIC. When in Track Mode, the automatic transmission and steering will function similar to Sport Mode. The accelerator pedal is adjusted to give maximum control during the highest level of spirited driving. The Magnetic Ride Control will be set to the optimum level for vehicle responsiveness. If the vehicle is equipped with Active Exhaust, the exhaust valves will open. Competitive Driving Mode can be accessed through this mode by pressing the button with this g icon. There are attributes that vary by mode shown below. Not all vehicles have all features, depending on the vehicle options. Sport Mode Use where road conditions or personal preference demand a more controlled response. When selected, the Sport Mode indicator will display in the DIC. When in Sport Mode, the vehicle will shift automatically but hold a lower gear longer than it would in the normal driving mode based on braking, throttle input, and vehicle lateral acceleration. See Automatic Transmission 0 209. The steering will change to provide more precise control. If the vehicle has Magnetic Ride Control, the suspension will change to provide better cornering Chevrolet Camaro Owner Manual (GMNA-Localizing-U.S./Canada/Mexico- 9234742) - 2016 - crc - 8/6/15 222 Driving and Operating performance. If the vehicle is equipped with Active Exhaust, the exhaust valves will open earlier and more often. Competitive Driving Mode can be accessed through this mode by pressing the button with this g icon twice. I guess it doesn't mean open all the time when in Track mode...or i wonder if you map sound management to be in TRACK for each driving mode, it only truly open 100% if you are actually in TRACK DRIVING MODE, as opposed to just the sound mapped to track mode??? I bet if this is the case, people will want to do a fuse pull if they want open 100% all the time.

That thread explains exactly how each exhaust mode works in full detail. The valves still close in track mode when at speed. They will reopen above a certain rpm depending if you have auto or manual. Auto needs higher rpms to reopen. They also close in v4 mode on the autos. Only a fuse pull will keep the valves always opened. Luckily there are wireless and wired mods you can do to control the fuse. I did the wireless version to my car and it works great. I have my car exhaust set to stealth and wirelessly control whether the valves are opened or closed with a button. I posted a thread about it with a link to the how-to The exhaust is louder on cold starts and it has nothing to do with NPP valves. It has everything to do with cold start fueling and is temporary

By looking at the sound review video, it looks like the valves are pretty far rearward and being back there and subject to things like condensation, I wonder if they need to operate at least occasionally to prevent them from being corroded shut and frozen in one position? Something to think about.

settings->Drive mode->Engine Sound Management You can switch it to track, and it stays there.

There was a thread about the NPP fuse pull that had some good info. The guy did a couple drives with and without the NPP fuse out and noticed it louder with the fuse out on the highway. It would make sense Chevy would tune it to prevent any drone on the highway cruising speeds.

Anyone else notice that there car does not go into v4 mode when in track mode? I still have watched it switched back and forth in other modes but never leave v8 mode in track.

This would be very interesting to confirm with others. All the info I have read, even from one of the engineers on the FNR tour have said it will still use AFM in Track mode. But the engineer did say a lot of variables would be taken into account for it to activate. I took this to mean the car would be less likely to use AFM in Track mode unless you were just poking along with a fully warmed up car.

Drive mode, exhaust mode if you have dual mode exhaust, temperature of startup (cold or warm start). Cold start, exhaust valves stay open longer

One question, is it possible to calm down the (cold) start up of an Camaro V8 NPP (manual, EURO version if this matters)?
Is there a possibility to close the valves right from the beginning? |
