Has anyone measured actual boost pressure with your setup? (which pulley)

Whipple says 3.625=9.5psi, and a 3.500=14psi. Both these numbers seem hi to me. I do have a boost gauge (P3 multi gauge with the analog boost) installed, so in the end I will know for sure what its actually doing. 14psi scares me on stock internals though.
I bet the Whipple estimates are right on. The other gentlemen probably saw boost drop with his cam so it won’t match up...running 10psi will be a beast for sure.

Guess I will be getting more boost. I also did the LT4 HPFP and injectors which required a billet rear case to clear the LT4 pump.

I am not with the car right now or I would give you my belt size to compare. My belt with the 3.500 pulley just fit.
Hmm.. Didn;t know about the billete rear case - Thanks!

Also, do you have to run a Fuel Pump Voltage Booster?

Its possible, and probably would be a safe bet just to do it. we iwll see when i get it tuned and what kind of voltage and pressure the low side pump is putting out. With the added boost of the 3.500 pulley it might need the voltage booster.

Yeah so if you plan to do the LT4 HPFP make sure whipple knows that. Maybe the newest or the next gen standard whipple housing will be made to fit all I dont know. It was just something that came up when i ordered mine like 2 months ago.

I got mine through the Weapon X group but as well. 3.625 here.

Yeah i cant wait to get it running, and see how she runs! Now i do have the 3.500 pulley, so we will see what the low side FP can do. I did the LT4 injectors, HPFP, front crank seal, and Roto-Fab CAI. Goes to the tuner tomorrow night for a start up tune to break it in then back for a dyno and street tune.

Wow, very interesting......are you doing the LT4 HPFP? I wonder if you order it to go with the LT4 pump you get the 3.500 pulley. Really good to know what you got, thanks Chris!

Whipple: "Yours is the newer gen design. The WeaponX systems have their own part number which takes the 3.5” pulley. Which is why yours came with such."

Me: "Ok, if it was not order thru weapon X would it normally have a 3.625 pulley on it? What kind of boost should i expect with the 3.500 pulley?"

Whipple: "Correct. Should be about 14psi based off of a stock motor with stock exhaust."

I didn’t change out any fuel components, so that probably explains it.

There is no way stock motor gets 14psi on 3.6 pulley.

I am seeing just over 8 psi with the 3.625" pulley, with the canned tune supplied by Whipple, everything else 100% stock. I would be surprised to see 14 psi from the 3.50" pulley. I would guess it will be more like to 10 psi.

Yeah I thought 8 psi was normal from the standard kit, and there is no way an 1/8" difference in pulley size makes that much of a difference, 1-2 psi maybe. I felt the #'s Whipple was giving seems high. But we shall see! Dropping it off at the tuner tonight.

Look forward to see your numbers, gives me an idea on where I will be once I add the LT4 fueling. Did you get a baseline stock dyno?

Yup, did a baseline, and going back to the same shop/dyno for the tuning.

The link below is my initial install with only roto-fab and Whipple using a 3.375 pulley which was about 10-11PSI. Then after getting forged, cam, headers, LT4 fuel system and no cats using a 3.125 pulley @ just over 11PSI. This is using their stock lower 7" pulley that comes with the kit. I believe there are some LT4 guys swapping to Whipples which have larger lower pulleys.

Per Whipple they said 1 PSI on average for every reduction of .125 on the upper pulley.

See build link for pictures, videos, and dyno.

*note 1LE's come with the LT4 LPFP
