Warranty for fender liner?

Long story short have a zl1 1le, inner fender liner tore from rubber at a track day, slowly coming apart more with the radiator grate now partially rubbing on tire if I dont pin it up. Brought it to one dealer and was told they cant warranty it.

Does anyone have experience getting that piece replaced?

How did that happen, was your tire actually rubbing the liner? I've had that happen in a prior track car when I ran much bigger wheels and tires.

That shouldn't happen on stock sized wheels and tires, and if it does it should be covered by warranty. Rubber bits flying around on track should not destroy a fender liner, but a rubbing tire will do it quickly.

Agree with SFV, if you installed bigger tires and you caused the rub, then GM is not going to cover the damage. In fact I don't think GM is going to cover the damage unless you can show the liner is defective by itself. Debris from the roadway is going to slice and dice those liners. They are not indestructible and IMHO would be considered normal wear and tear.

Fender liners are usually very cheap btw, and 3rd party versions can be good.

Car is on stock wheels, tires, and suspension stock height on track alignment. Not sure how it happened but i have a giant hole right above the grate that I can fit my hand thru. I had rubber hanging out of it last night.

For my Mitsu Evo X I bought them on Amazon. Not sure about availability for ZL1, you need the OEM part number first then search and see if any 3rd party come up. It's a simple part that's hard to get wrong.

I have replaced both of mine but didn't even consider the warranty. They are approximately $65 each and the new ones have a metal reinforcement that wasn't present on the OEM unit. Gmpartsnow had the best price because shipping was way less than other online vendors.

Ill look there, thats not a bad price. I guess it was more principal; "I have the warranty I might as well use it" sort of thing. But for a 65 dollar part and not having to deal with the dealership thats nice.

Did it come with the plastic grate piece as well?
