Hit bump accelerating hard, loud bang

Hello, wondering if anyone has any insight on this. 2020 ss m6, was accelerating hard in 1st and broke traction, ran over a metal manhole cover and heard a loud bang/ snap noise. The car continued to pull and it doesn't feel like anything is broken, it's driving normally, no other noises. Anyone have any idea what the noise could have been, I'm thinking maybe the tire spinning on the metal cover could have made a noise, or maybe the rear end when one tire hit the more slippery metal? Any thoughts? I'm just nervous that something could have broke. Thanks

Your tire popped up the edge of the cover perhaps and it fell back into place with a bang/thud? Check the underbody for damage, if you can't see anything, it was likely the cover itself making all the racket.

...and to the forums

If you broke something in the drivetrain, you'd know it.

Drivetrain yes, suspension component not necessarily. A loud bang and snap noise usually isn't great while flying over a bump. Possibly a suspension bushing? Anyone know what ours are made out of?

I can get a rear end metal clunk of bang when my rev match decides to not work when I expect it to and get the jarring of the driveline.

My guess is when you stepped on it you threw the manhole cover into the windshield into the car behind you. he's having a bad day.

If you hit the manhole cover off center, you literally might have spun the cover making a thump noise...
