Looking for switched 12V source.

NOT in the map light panel. I need something in a fuse panel, or under the dash somewhere. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

The 12v accessory plug (formerly known as a cigarette lighter plug) in the center console is switched if that helps.

Yup, there is also a purple and green wire in a black connector under the steering column, but I dont know what else it powers. I just did a little writeup on accessing the cigarette lighter plug from the underneath. Its really not too hard to access. 6 screws and a little swearing getting the rear foam by the back of the console. Click here: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showpo...5&postcount=17 - down a bit more..

The fuse box should have switched power you can tap into.

Anyone have any updates on this or what that purple and green wire goes to? I have tried to find other people that have used that wire and couldn't find any.

Above, he says "purple and green wire in a black connector under the steering column". In his link, it says, "purple/white wire".

If he's talking about the black, BCM connector (X4), there are two green/violet wires and one violet/white.

I tapped the grey/violet in X4. That's the RAP relay coil control.

Thank you, what were you powering with the tap into the grey/violet wire in X4?

@TonyNo I searched the service manual and it seems that pin 12 (GY/VT wire) on the black connector under the steering column is indeed the retained accessory power relay coil control. I am looking to power an accessory that I need to connect to the Radio Control Box, that is located in the passenger's footwell under the kick panel. This accessory has to retain power after engine shutdown for about 10 mins or until a door is opened (same as the radio). Therefore I suppose this GY/VT wire that goes on pin #12 on the black connector under the steering wheel could be what I am looking for?

Did you use this wire? I'm looking for a wire for my radar detector and would be easier to tag this wire than pull the console, but cigarette lighter may be a safer bet.

I actually pulled the console and connected to the purple cigarette lighter wire. It's a bit of a pain but it's actually a safer bet.

Definitely agree, just my attempt at being lazy, lol. Guess if I really wanted to be lazy I'd just mount the radar by the mirror and use the Gen5DIY harness, lol. For whatever reason to me it looks better to have my radar detector be on my dash rather than by my rear view mirror.
