I have no use going over 150mph lol. The engine, performance is the same, especially for drag racing in a straight line. Of course I prefer the 2SS, I own a 2016 SS, but if there was a new LT1 close by, stripper with just an auto transmission I would have bought it so I'd have a new car. They're the same cars. Think of the LT1 as the base model. This whole argument is stupid. You do have to watch it because dealers like to load the LT1 and the price pushes 42k! You can just buy a 1ss. |

Two things I would add to the discussion, however: 1) certain components and features can be a must for someone and useless luxury to another, which is all right, that's why we have options and there's no need to justify anything; and 2) assuming one spends money they do actually have, the price is easily forgotten shortly after purchase while the product remains, which is why I tend to buy the highest end I can reasonably afford, otherwise regrets kick in and linger once the "what a great deal" feeling subsides.

I just think that from both an enthusiast, and a marketing perspective GM would be better off upgrading the tires enough to get rid of the speed limit, and getting a better name. That would cost almost nothing and make it look even better vs the Mustang. |

Late to the party here but I occasionally question whether I should have gotten a base 1SS or 1LE. But I always come back to to the fact that I got a stripped out, zero option, 455hp sleeper for 30K before taxes (had to fly to DC to get it though...) with an engine hand built in Bowling Green (I live in KY and have been to the Vette factory so this is super cool)
I didn't even last 6 months before putting on the $1,000 "Tire Rack Clearance Special" 285 square wheel/tire setup on it. I haven't had any doubts yet that a No-Lift-Shift into 2nd and 3rd hasn't fixed real quick Bottom line is I don't plan to run it competitively on a road course and I don't have a superiority complex or need to overcompensate so the LT1 works just fine. |

I find it funny calling the LT1 a sleeper. Any car enthusiast knows what it is and it’s not a “sleeper” it looks the part like any V8 Camaro. One look at the hood alone.
I don’t know anyone putting the car down so please stop justifying why you bought one. I don’t make excuses or justify why I bought the car I did. Just enjoy it while it lasts folks. Last edited by Venomcustom; 06-29-2021 at 07:50 PM. |

Well, I regret not buying one last year, so we're all good.
I'm holding out until sanity returns. Will be looking for a new SS, but will be glad to find a LT1, swap the display, and toss on some wheels and tires. |

Nothing wrong with a LT1.. actually, I think it’s a kick ass car. However, my preference for a stripper would be a 1SS Auto. No other options.

This is why I ordered the black center stripe. It camouflages the hood vent pretty good. The 315's and the LT1 fender badges are a little harder to hide...

If you're buying end of model year, a left over 1SS on the lot might be a better deal. Early last Sept a local Chevy dealer had FOUR left over 2020 1SS, A10, and NPP. Of course Chevy rebates sucked as usual but the dealer had their own rebate and the price I believe was $37,100 and that is with the NPP and automatic. So stupid of me not to jump on that. I was trying to find a new LT1 for cheaper and I eventually settled on a 2016 2ss for $31,200. The 2020 would have been a better deal just minus leather seats. Missing just the leather and heated seats would have been the only loses I would have had getting one of those 1SSs. But who knows what I would have got on trade in and higher payments as well. |

What makes you say that?

I wouldn't say that. It looks like a sporty car. However the SS grille looks much more the part. The LT1 grille looks much less aggressive and tame.....but still it's not bad. I wouldn't say looks better than an SS though.
