Need Some Help, Please

Evening,

Today, I moved my HF Air Hose Reel from the Wall to the Ceiling, because I was tired of tripping over the air hose or having to move it all time.

Got it mounted on the ceiling without too much difficulty. However, it doesn't reel the house back up. So I was thinking the rubber HF hose "that came with it" might be too heavy for the spring from the ceiling, so I installed a lighter hose, but unfortunately same problem.

I also increased the tension on the spring, but that did little.

I was thinking of maybe going from a 50' to a 25', might help.

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, Tony

Try winding the drum a couple full rotations tighter with the hose installed. You might need to take the stop off the hose. Kinda hard to explain but pull the hose out a couple revolutions unit you hit a lock position. Then without moving the drum, manually wrap the hose back onto the drum. This will increase the initial tension when the hose is fully retracted.

Is it spring tension or the stop lock release?

Could it possibly be the orientation of the ceiling mounting not allowing the lock to release?

When you pull out the hose, can you feel the spring tension increasing? I have two hung from the ceiling and one is getting a bit stiff on return. The o rings on mine just need to be lubricated.

Came across a youtube video of a guy having the same problem. So I accessed the spring today and sure enough it had come dislodged from the anchor bolt. Took awhile but I was able to get the spring to slide back onto the bolt. Buttoned it back up and took me a couple of manual rewinds to get the full tension back. But it is fixed for now. If it goes again, I will just a get a new one at HF. Thanks for all the help.
