DSS or GForce or 1LE axles
2010 2SS, 439rwhp. Street and road course use. No drag racing, maybe an occasional burnout. Trying to decide on the best investment for reliability and long term life. Like to hear opinions and or comments on those running DSS or GForce axles.

I've had DSS 1,400hp axles for a number of my rear differentials (Hammerhead, ZL1#1, ZL1#2 and now my 9".) DSS had done a good job and has treated me very fair. That said, I hear Geforce makes very good axles and backs them well too. So, I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Seen guys pop an axle on a stock motor but then I have seen guys run 500+rwhp run years on stock axles. If you do the axles you might as well do the differential and get an Auburn posi if your logic is bulletproofing or trying to make it stronger as much as possible. Clutches are also a weak link in the differential.
Just looking at your power levels if you aren't drag racing it and holeshoting it a lot those axles might last longer than you have the car, just depends. Plenty of guys have way more power to the ground then you and have axles with more than 100k on them. I personally would wait until something goes wrong and replace both axles and posi and the same time. Just my 2 cents. But if you are doing the axles I would do the posi also if you haven't yet. |

1LE axles are the best bang for the buck. If you're lowered get offset diff bushings.

Gforce for sure in 700 miles I lost 7 halfshafts, and a driveshaft and no wheelhop. The 1400 hp halfshafts failed at speeds above 130 mph next to no warranty or help my factory’s never failed me. I switched to gforce.zero problems.

You can always look at Z28 shafts they are next level above 1LE and will fit your SS set up. I’m currently running a Z28 diff in my SS with 1LE axles and several track days at NCM with no issues. I’m a DSS fan though and have one of their DS in my car.

Thanks for the responses. Just purchased 4K mile take out 1LE/Z28 axles. Z28 and 1LE axles are the same. Car is lowered about an inch, already have Hendrix urethane offset diff bushings. Read my signature, car has been extensively modified. Been on this forum and road racing car at least once a year since late 2009 to 2016. Work, life, my 71Z28 and then retirement got in the way but now in the process of getting car prepped for a track weekend this fall. Still have stock axles w/12K miles in the car which I had DSS do their "road course" prep to them about 7 years ago. Car just turned 30K miles while on the Dragon a few months ago. Just noticed the right rear Pedders XA shock is leaking which I'll replace with a spare I have when installing the new axles. Been on this forum since it's inception. I have to wonder why so many claim they need to upgrade their LSD. Worked on a bunch of these cars and other than full on drag cars haven't seen the diff issues claimed here.

I have DSS 1000hp 1/2 shafts and have had no issues with them. I also have a GForce driveshaft.
GForce has the worst customer service I have dealt with from any company I have bought a mod for my car from. I wouldn't buy a stick of chewing gum from them.

Well the purchase of the 1LE axles fell through apparently. RDP will be getting my order for GForce Renegade axles. Sucks as I already bought the GM 1LE axle nuts and shims. Hopefully I will like the GForce axles.

For what it's worth - the life of a stock axle (or the diff) is very dependent on what you do to it, far more than the power you feed it. The driveline in these cars is not very tolerant of shock loads, and that's what tends to tear stuff up. I've had a few ring gears that couldn't handle the drag strip use I gave them - but I've never had a stock axle fail. If you want to bulletproof, axles aren't a bad step, but as long as there is an SS differential back there you still have a weak link - and if you shock it enough times it will fail you.

You're not kidding about this virus stuff making things impossible to get a-hold of. What a pain. Post up how your GForce experience goes, I've heard good things!
