Cam swap almost done!

Technically the swap is done, I fired the car up and heat cycled the springs!

Still waiting for connection pipes to the SP headers though. Of course the car is SUPER loud. Also, it needs a tune... figured I'll limp over to a tuner about 100 miles away. It dies on the current idle :(

Went with the BTR Stage 3, with all the goodies, and SP headers... took FOREVER for me to do, but i learned a lot and used Rob's DIY guide.

So happy that it worked so far... Using redline 5w30.

It is totally my christmas gift, but man, I've never had to work so hard for a gift! Still nervous about something going boom. Especially whenever I get it to the tuner. Sucks that he is going to be the first person to go WOT on it lol

100 mi sounds like a long way to drive without a tune. I drove 3miles and it was miserable.

Next level performance is the tuner im going to... unfortunately I dont know if ill make it now.

The car fired up fine yesterday and i brought the oil to 210... Now the car wont start.

Checked the battery at autozone and the charge was 74%, so they charged it for me.

Get back and the car still wont start. The CEL was flickering and of course all the errors on the DIC, but no attempt to crank the engine when i turn the ignition. Could use some help guys

Could it be a relay? I heard clicking noises up at the front of the car, but now it doesnt even do that

Alright, I used homeless man's thread for reference and ended up changing around some similar relays.. i think i changed hi beams for the pwr train relay and it fired up.

Also, the DIC was asking me to roll the window up and down, so i did that to make it happy... Just glad the ECM isnt toast. that was my biggest concern.

RobertWays DIY is the GOLD STANDARD of a great DIY -- he set the standard and its fantastic -- what a contribution he made.

I have to agree, I would get a get me going tune before driving it -- there are a lot of Sponsors that can do that for you. I did that with mine as I didn't want to have issues and I'm glad I did...

Congrats! Doing it yourself is VERY rewarding...

Not lucky yet haha. Need to wait until tomorrow to see if the problem resurfaces.

The flickering really had me worried... Thank you for your thread.

Overall I cant even test drive the car around because I dont have connection pipes for my cats... still waiting for SW.

You can also do a remote tune with JRE or another vendor to get you going and be able to safely drive it to the dyno.

Glad you got it figured out. I had no idea about those relays being an issue. Did you unhook the battery before doing the swap?

Yes, I unhooked the battery, but I would rehook it up at night to put the windows back up... I guess overtime i drained the battery.
I think a combination of my trying to start it with not enough battery seized the relay
I still cant run it on the street because I got sent the wrong connection pipes from SW ... been waiting for a while now with no tracking number.

I would be terrified to do that myself, though it would be so rewarding. Good job!

Heard good things about NLP but you can also check out Tampa Tuning. Phil can hook you up with a great tune
