Out with the old and in with the new. Had an order at a dealer here in Houston with a $3k markup (best I could find) and no confirmed delivery date. My wife just happened to be glancing around Autotrader one night and found one in transit to a dealer ~5 hours away in north Dallas. Called and put a deposit and we were able to go grab it when it came in.

Been tracking since about 2014, previously ran a 2013 5.0, 2012 Mazdaspeed3 and the 2021 Miata club. All were good in their own right, but really excited to get this thing broken in and on track. 700 miles after the first week, so should be ready for my first track day mid October.

Congrats! The car is a track star right out of the box. The owner manual is a dog's breakfast, so check out my sticky on PTM modes. Just read the very first post, which I have kept updated with folks contrubutions, etc. I track mine bone stock, except for brake fluid. Highly recommend SRF as the cooling is not great and pistons are not vented. Stock pads stand up well and last about the same as the tires 6-7 days, venue depending. The tires are on par with RE71 or Cup2. Careful running high torque pads, lest you will smoke the pistons and end up with Brownbos. Also, she has no lift upshifts feature: keep the gas pedal down 100%, engage the clutch and upshift. Simple as that and it keeps RPMs up. If more pace beacons, get 18s, do a camber mod and run slicks. But frankly, the car is so fun and so fast stock I haven't felt a need yet. Superbly balanced and excellent feedback. Lastly, change the oil and rear diff fluids. The latter is a must as the Ediff works hard and even after a break in period, the fluid comes out looking like sludge.
The track section in the Forum has tons of super info. And most importantly: have bags of fun!!!

Picked up my '23 1SS 1LE 6M in Rapid Blue on Saturday the 17th. Saw it on the Chevy Inventory site on September 3rd and was just lucky I guess being the first one to put a deposit down. It made it to the dealer on the 13th. Got it for $46.3k after supplier discount.

Only issue is that they didn't remove the spring stuffers, figured that out the next day after driving it home 250 miles. Local dealer removed them for me at no cost. Overall, couldn't be happier.

Congratulations! Looks like you got the copper free brakes too! Man they are massive!

I guess that's something I wasn't aware of just yet? Is it just a different pad compound, or are the actual brakes different?

Yes it's a different pad compound and the front calipers and rotors are different. There is no copper in the pads. Copper free brake pads are required in California and Washington state. However, you can order the copper free brakes in other states for an additional $500 on the 1LE. Because the pads aren't as aggressive Chevy increased the size of the rotors and the calipers with those brakes in order to maintain the same braking capacity as the copper 1LE brakes. It is my understanding that the calipers and rotors for the copper free brakes come from the Cadillac CTS-V Blackwing. And they are huge.

So you got an awesome upgrade over the regular 1LE six piston Brembos for $500, although the pads aren't as aggressive. Of course you can always change the pads and still have the upgraded hardware. My guess is the copper free OEM pads are less dusty than the standard OEM 1LE pads, although I have no first hand experience with them. The standard 1LE pads are very dusty. The larger calipers and rotors also look awesome behind the 1LE wheels.

Here is what the standard 1LE front brakes look like.

You know what, I noticed the window sticker had the 1LE package listed as $7,500 when I could have sworn it was only $7,000. I figured they were putting a small markup on it and didn't really think anything of it, but I wonder if that's it. Or just standard for '22?

No, that's it. If you look at it closely it should say something on the window sticker about copper free brakes. My car is a 22 also and the 1LE package was $7k. The price for Camaros did go up for the 23 model year, but I'm not aware that the 1LE package itself increased in cost. Regardless you got much more capable brakes, at least hardware wise, for $500.

Unfortunately, NO! I have them on my ‘22 1LE. They produce as much dust if not more! I love the size of brakes and everything other than that. I will find a pad soon to switch them out to. The bigger brakes do look great.
