Mmmm good pics by triple 7, and 'splain by hotlap.
Now another question- If owner is concerned by carbon buildup, do the engineers recommend- WHAT? Bead blasting? Total dismantle of heads? Replace valve guides? (I think it might be the former---if done by a COMPETENT mechanic. |

When they get to the point the valves won't seat then yes that's it. On the newer engines, it doesn't look like it will ever get to that point. GM makes a top engine cleaner you inject with the engine running which will do just fine. The thing with DI is there is no injector flow through the valve to clean it to the level people expect with a manifold injected car. Doesn't mean it's doing harm, just means it's not pristine like people are used to.

I was never a fan of catch cans....I changed my oil at 500 miles, 1500 miles, and at 5000 miles. Took my car to Weapon-X for a full build just after the 5000 mile change. Ben talked me into the EE2...and I'm Thankful he did. When I changed my oil at 8500 miles last week, this was the result....and that is good enough for me!
The next part of the build will include the Weapon-X secondary Port injection anyway, but the CC definitely does it's job! The only reason I pulled the CC to drain, is that I need bifocals and couldn't remember how the valve turned! Now I'm good! lol |

Agreed, but some guys will go through all of this and come to the conclusion that they aren't needed on built motors either! Just showing that side!

I haven't done much research, but can the LT5 direct and port injection systems be used on the LT1? Is this something that people have done yet?
