Nurburgring set up direct from Bill Wise!

I messaged Bill Wise and he was kind enough to reply with the car set up he drove with to get his 7:16 Nurburgring time. Here is his response to my question:

Pete congrats on the purchase! We ran the front ride height at 692mm (measured to the front fender thru the middle of the wheel). The spring perch adjusts the height 1.4mm per turn (recalling from memory, pretty sure that's it but it's actually in the Owner's Manual to confirm). That sets the front roll center in the correct place. Rear bar full stiff, but on the west coast that may be too much. At Laguna Seca we had to run it full soft. I'd suggest toe at 0.05 IN per side. That's where we ran it with the best wear, pace, and consistency.

Maybe some good bits in there to help kick some Gt3's ass!

Thanks for sharing. Toe in is very surprising…generally one hears 0 to slight toe out…

Great info on the ride height. Been wondering that! I guess he means to the edge of the front fender at the top of the wheel well.

Very cool info and great work getting a response directly from Bill Wise!

What is the stock ZLE front ride height? Curious how much an adjustment 692mm is.

So 692mm (27.244") - anyone else measure? That must be the measurement from the ground through the center of the wheel to the top of the wheel well edge of the front fender. That means tire pressure, wear, etc make a difference. With new tires I am at 682 passenger side and 678 drivers side. That would mean a 10mm adjustment or about 1/2 increase in ride height for me. Odd!

I did measure- I am at almost exactly 27inches both sides. However, I had first reduced my ride height (looked cool) but then faced oversteer at track and read up and went back to increasing ride height and fared much better (full soft setting for sway bar). I might increase it even more by a few turns to see how that works for me…

I just measured --

Driver Front: 681mm (26 13/16")
Passenger Front: 690.5mm (27 3/16")

This is on pretty heavily used SC3R tires. There is maybe one more track day left in them.

Thanks!

I would expect the driver's side to be lower to corner balance with the driver's weight.

Raising the front of the car actually creates more front end stiffness and moves the roll center so that you get more of an oversteer affect. This is per the Track Prep manual. I have a bit too much understeer and will raise the car up in the front around 5mm.

Measured again after a drive around the neighborhood and equalizing tire pressures to 32 psi (cold) on brand new Continentals:

686mm passenger side
682mm drivers side

This won't be exact science, but raising 4-6mm seems right. 1.4mm per turn x 3 turns = 4.2mm. Seems reasonable.

If we measure from the wheel edge to the fender edge, that will remove the tire variable.

I just measured. Brand new car....40 miles on it. 692 on the left front....and 686 (1/4" less) on the right passenger side. Interesting. I wonder if they are compensating for driver weight? Or just not exact on the height specs?
