Spykexx I wish I had your problems but I understand.I have a manual zl1 and I wish I got the automatic because of the acceleration differences but a lot of the people that have autos complain how it's not as much fun on the road.

Personal preference but to me if you want just speed buy an electric car that is mind numbing. Paddle shifters will never be the same as a true manual.

I come from a highly modified BMW E92 N54, makes around 600 whp and is lighter than the ZL1. Very torquey and a blast to drive. I've always wanted a V8 muscle car ever since I was a kid and since the manual is becoming extinct I ordered an M6. They are different cars for sure but the raw thrills are still there. Not to mention adding 100-150 whp on the ZL1 is pretty cheap & safe, and the sound can't be beat by an inline 6. In the end I'd go for the "total package". What car makes you feel more "alive" when you go for a drive, what's going to put a bigger smile on your face, and which car is gonna make you turn around for a quick glance after parking it.

Part of the problem is these modern cars keep getting heavier with all the sound deadening insulation and fancy interior - the M6 is just too big (why not an M5 comp?) and weighs 4300 lbs. EVs are even worse.

I find these 4000+ lb cars with carbon bits amusing, like it matters - all for show

I grew up on sport bikes and an FD RX-7, so light and flickable is part of the fun of a "sports car", even though for city driving that is more or less lost. It's a very sanitized world now.

"Fun" to me is 3000 lbs or less and 500 hp or more, in other words GT3RS territory

My big issue with BMW lately is the atrocious front fascia with that hideously oversized grill. I think there needs to be a grill of that size on it and it can look good, but the way they designed it just looks like 2x chubby ass leg thighs to me next to each other.

I hear you. I have never struggled over a transmission choice as much as I did with the ZL1. The are both great in their own ways. I went on the hunt for a ZL1 last year and whatever they had available would be the deciding factor. I wound up with the A10, which has been fantastic. There are days I miss rowing the gears but there are also days that I appreciate the auto.

I agree. C6 Z06 - 505hp, ~3,100lbs. This is the ideal formula for max fun.

They're already making in more tasteful in the 2024 M5

New M2 should be better as well

Does nearly everything you could ask of it and does it with zero complaint, drama or sweat. But my issue...is exactly that. There's zero drama, zero anything. It's numb. It's insanely fast, and the AWD is nuts. Powering out of turns on the track far faster than should be allowable. But even at that point, there's no emotion to that. It just does it and does it flawlessly.

We had decided to take it to the track one last time this weekend to make sure it was the right decision to let it go. And put in to have a 19 ZL1 transferred to our local dealer that night and it's on its way. My wife also got out of her AWD BMW for the exact same reason.

Not even sure of the question to ask, but am I crazy? Trading more power, faster, AWD for a ZL1. Would you guys do the same in that situation? *Looks aside as I know that's subjective
Same thing happened to me. I had the fast AWD/DCT cars. I had the fast Tesla electric cars.

I ended up in a ZLE. The problem with fast modern cars is that they are too easy. They are too comfortable. They have little emotion. An old lady can drive them fast.

My ZLE with 788 HP takes skill to drive and has emotion oozing out of its pores.

Ultimately if I wanted a killer daily? It would be the perfect car. But definitely not at THAT salary yet to have 2 weekend track cars(mine and my wife's) and nearly 100k dailies as well lol. I want back into a manual, and back into a RWD car with personality.

And let's be honest. I miss the sound of a V8.

No way I'd take a 19' ZL1 over a 22 BMW M3 Competition Xdrive, especially as my daily!!
I would however consider a ZLE manual over the M3 if I were going to regularly track it.

Agreed

I'm probably replacing my 20 GT500 for a C6Z in the near future, if I can find one that's in decent shape at a reasonable price. Ive hardly been driving my Shelby since owning the Plaid.

The C6 ZR1 is amazing too!

Like I said earlier, If I was looking for a killer daily? No doubt about it. But that's not what I bought it for. It's purpose was for track duty/weekend car.
