Thank you
Will do, but based on my numbers I don’t see any extra, but we will see.

The configurator showed silver unpainted copper free brakes for my SS and they arrived painted black.

My car was just delivered to dealer so it’s not cleaned up yet, but here is the answer for those wondering about caliper color when getting Copper Free Brakes on a 1LE. This is my 2022 2SS/1LE.

If you're asking about putting a copper free pad on your current brake setup it'll be a downgrade from whatever you have now. Need the whole pad/rotor/caliper combination for it to be comparable or an upgrade vs OE.

You see, this Blackwing is big and exceptionally powerful. Getting it stopped quickly, repeatably, and reliably on track is no small feat, even for the powerful cast-iron-rotor-based Brembo system fitted as standard. (A carbon-ceramic Brembo disc setup is optional.) Doing it with a traditional pad is hard enough, but once you remove heat-dissipating copper from the pad's compound (which is done for environmental reasons), it becomes a true challenge. And it's one Grebovic obviously relished, as he told me about the roughly 20 compounds they tested before settling on one that met noise and temperature targets while surviving almost 800 laps during a marathon, 24-hour track testing session.

https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2...-drive-review/
Same pad compound, yes, but that article wording seems misleading. The vehicle with those brakes on them went through the 24hr track testing, but it wasn't just one set of hardware. Was likely using 2-4 sets of pads used to complete that 24hr testing, no way one set of copper-free pads lasts that long.

Took delivery yesterday. My 2SS/1LE has the copper free brakes being a CA car I had to order that way. Confirmed they are the ZL1/1LE Calipers and Rotors and NO THERE WAS NO EXTRA CHARGE they are HUGE!

Not the best pics, but here it is plus the window sticker to show the option with no charge.

There is an additional charge, it is added to the $7000 1LE option cost. Instead of $7000 it is $7500, but that is a great value for much larger brakes!

Thank You for the pictures shippingguy!

It adds $500 to the price of the SS 1LE package in both forced locations (CA / WA) or if you order them in other states. The SS 1LE package goes from $7000 to $7500 along with adding a description line item on the window sticker saying "COPPER FREE BREMBO PERFORMANCE BRAKES, RED CALIPERS".

FYI - The fronts with BCD (Copper Free) with J6H get the same sized larger calipers and front rotor sizes as the CT5-V Blackwing J6H steel brakes. So, you get 398x36mm fronts. Rears stay 365x26mm. For the SS 1LE, that's a huge size upgrade on both front and rear from 370x34mm and 339x26mm, respectively! Not bad for $500 if you are looking for much larger brakes.

Saw this thread earlier in the week before I was to order my SS 1LE today. Asked my dealer about copper free brakes and he said they can only be ordered for vehicles going to CA or WA. Since I'm in NC I couldn't order the copper free brakes.

Your dealer is mistaken, you definitely can order them outside of CA/WA; they're just a $500 option as opposed to being standard content. Friend of mine in MI just ordered and got his delivered with them and dealers all over the US are ordering them configured like that to put on their lots.
