Just talked to the dealer and he was told the same thing. No converter replacements until the first quarter of 19. They have been instructed to flush the trans as needed until the fix is ready

Lol, wouldn't surprise me if that was their fix, probably would work better than changing out TCs!

That first quarter better be early in the quarter, and better be a solid fix this time.

Camaro isn't the only car suffering from this.
This is all over the Corvette forum also.

The Silverado with the 8-speed is also having this issue.
The Silverado having this issue is probably what is keeping the pressure on for a fix, since there are considerably more of those on the road than Camaro and Corvette combined.
Definitely.

Silverado/Sierra is THE driver. The trucks and truck customers are the absolute most important part of GM, Ford and FCA business.

Dropped mine off last Wednesday as another part breaking meant I'd bite the bullet even though the shudder was only annoying not horrible. Veteran service writer next to the noob who was writing mine up said he had done tons of TC and that it would start with flush.

Got email from service writer yesterday that mine was skipping flush and going straight to TC replacement, but the TC was on national backorder. Probably another week.

I figure I will get a message later this week stating the the TC change is on hold.

The A8 sounds like a class-action waiting to happen. Anyone know a good law firm that can get the ball rolling?

Circle D converter is infinitely cheaper than hiring a lawyer...

Mine did...literally crapped out as I pulled into the dealers garage area, couldn't get it to go into any gear, transmission was essentially rebuilt, over $3k in charges to GM (parts and labor).

Email Monday from dealer:
Your Camaro is needing the Torque Converter. We have ordered one, but they are on national back order. We expect to have one in a week or so. We are waiting on approval on the convertible piece. We have to have additional approval for that since it has been replaced before. There is a note in GMs database that those will break due to someone pushing there to leverage themselves out of the back seat. We are not saying that this is the case with your vehicle, but with that possibility we have to have the additional approval. Thank you for your time. I will update again when I have more news.

Email Wednesday
I wanted to inform you that your vehicle is ready for pick up. The factory would not allow us to replace the torque converter at this time due to there not being an updated part. We have replaced the trans fluid and trans filter. We also replaced the convertible frame cover and motor. This is a redesigned part, and should not have the same issue.

Damn...did you piss off the car somehow? lol...but seriously, that sucks! I am waiting for the groan, today was the first real cool morning here in NC, no groan today, but it was garaged last night that is warm. Sitting outside right now for the day, we'll see when I drive home later if any groan.

Yeah my shudder is starting to come back a little bit. Its been about 9k since I had the flush. I'm kinda annoyed that the fix is Q1 because I wanted to start doing some mods this winter now that the 3 yr is up. I don't want the dealer to deny a fix in the sping, so i'll wait.

Ever since I went with the diff fluid that you have to add the additive to, my diff groan hasn't been back in over a year and 1/2. Even this morning 38 outside and nothing.

Interesting...my groan is back since yesterday morning. I have to bring mine in for a couple maintenance things, I am going to have them flush the dif fluid to see if that helps.
