Surprised there hasn't been a class-action lawsuit about this yet.

I hope this fixes the issue and this will be a recall vs replace as they break. I don't drive my Camaro much. It only has 4500 miles in the 1.5 years I have owned mine and I fear it will develop the shudder after the powertrain warranty expires after 5 years.

Ok so I took my car in for the shudder this week and I got a call from them saying the tech talked with Tech support and they are saying the vibration is coming from my aftermarket axle back exhaust? I call bull*%$ on this. So now I Will have to put it back to stock and take it to them for the proper diagnosis.

GM is only doing fluid changes now unless after the 3rd fluid change doesnt fix the issue, then the TAC line will approve the torque converter to be replaced.

If the flushes dont get rid of the shudder GM will approve a torque converter and or who transmission replacement if that is the case.

There is nothing wrong with the A8, the issue was purely the wrong spec of fluid used.

I took mine back in a couple weeks ago since the shudder came back after the triple flush they performed. I showed the tech and then last week they replaced the TC. I haven't checked these forums in a while and I am very disappointed to hear even TC replacements fail and that GM is now finding another solution. The "Ask Al" question on this issue had Al stating it was a supplier issue with fluids (friction modifier) that were being put into the cars at factory. Clearly there is something more.

Maybe the new solution is an software update, ECU/TCU update and they put in the A10....ha

Enough of this BS, time to hold GM's feet to the fire.

I took mine in last Wednesday with just under 15K on the odo because a part failed on the convertible top for the 2nd time (first time was after 2 months ownership, replacement went 18).

Service writer next to the noob writing me up said he had handled plenty of these. Was told to expect a flush on mine then bring it back in 200 miles if problem persisted.

Got email yesterday that said mine was going straight to TC replacement, but the TC was on national backorder and would be at least a week.

Now hearing no replacements until 2019, I'm betting I get an email this week saying it was flushed, no new TC, and to come get it.

I can't believe there is not any lawyers on this forum who own an A8 and can't start a class action suit. My father-in-law just bought a new Silverado with the A8 Can't wait for the shit to really hit the fan when all those guys who are having the same issues get organized. Camaro guys are a drop in the bucket, but trucks rule the roost.

Email Monday from dealer:
Your Camaro is needing the Torque Converter. We have ordered one, but they are on national back order. We expect to have one in a week or so. We are waiting on approval on the convertible piece. We have to have additional approval for that since it has been replaced before. There is a note in GMs database that those will break due to someone pushing there to leverage themselves out of the back seat. We are not saying that this is the case with your vehicle, but with that possibility we have to have the additional approval. Thank you for your time. I will update again when I have more news.

Email Wednesday
I wanted to inform you that your vehicle is ready for pick up. The factory would not allow us to replace the torque converter at this time due to there not being an updated part. We have replaced the trans fluid and trans filter. We also replaced the convertible frame cover and motor. This is a redesigned part, and should not have the same issue.

I dropped my Fifty off yesterday for the shutter issue and I am waiting to hear what the dealer says. Just for some background I have about 18k miles on the car, I had the triple flush at about 4k miles and then the TC was replaced at around 5k...the shutter came back, and now it is so bad it shutters almost all the time (about 18k miles on the car now, shutter returned probably a couple thousands miles ago). If they tell me I have to wait till 2019 I will just start the lemon law procedure and be done with it.
