Hawaii is paradise right?

As much as I like being stationed on Oahu...there are some things I really dislike as a car enthusiast.

#1 There is no drag strip here anymore, so where do we race?
#2 Shipping and Handling prices are ridiculous for performance parts
#3 Traffic gets very congested
#4 The DA levels are high in most parts
#5 There aren't any good tuning shops I know of
#6 There aren't any really good car shows

I was stationed there back in the 80s, used to run my Mustang GT at the local strip, surprising that it closed down because it was always packed on Fri and Sat nights.

Nice, I wish they still had one here! They closed it down a few years ago.

I used to drag at the strip back in high school (96-98) all the time. I had my 1987 IROC but most of the cars were imports and there was a good scene back then. I was sad to hear it close as it was always packed. They even used to have a cool setup where there was a line of cops that would bring their car down and you could run against them since back in the 90' a lot of cops used their own cars as their cop car and there were tons of Mustangs, 3rd and 4th gen Camaros, and Impala SS. It was a blast and kept us off the streets.

If you want to have some fun, try Tantalus!

Depending on as to why it was closed down one could possibly use this as a business opportunity...IJS.

While those are some downsides, I agree...

You do have a lot of positives, especially if you are clear of the touristy areas like Waikiki. Over by Waimea Bay, the scenery of driving anything is amazing.

There used to be a few decent car shows, but it's mostly limited to military. Not many in the rougher area rock sports cars as opposed to nice lifted trucks and suvs...to get to those secret places

Honestly, I miss home. Enjoy it, Uce!

Your Z06 would probably just overheat and blow a head gasket. lol

Besides...you are a Mustang driver and everyone knows you all can't drive.

What mods are you planning to do? I found a shop here that from what I can find has a pretty good reputation for boosting/tuning LS and LT motors. They are called Hawaii Performance Technology. I'm sure there are others here as well, but I haven't heard anything bad about this shop so far.

I dyno there and plan on getting my 402 shortblock done by them as well. Good people.
