After owning both a camaro (5th generation) and corvette. I have also checked out the new 6th gen.

In terms of performance, the SS or high models are the way to go bang for buck. That new Zl1 camaro coming out is going to smoke non Z06 vettes. For the price of a Z51 vette.

For me my biggest problem after owning a c7 is that they are IMO the best looking car for the money. the corvette has that wow factor, where the camaro has that cool factor. When i see my corvette in my garage I cant get over how nice it looks. I love how low it sits to the ground. this is something you can put a performance number on. I mean the only thing that sits this low to the ground and looks better is a Lamborghini.

Love vettes I just can't see it as a daily driver and don't want a garage queen, the Camaro is practical (and comfortable), the trunk is big (for what I need), and it has plenty of power for the street

I know exactly what you mean, I LOVE my car. A lot. But the C7 is a special thing to me, even with such similar performance it's hard to not lust after the C7.

I know what you mean, I just couldn't get over how sexy the Vette is over the SS. It was a tuff choice, but I feel I made the right one.

[QUOTE=ender2664;9247709]I have the opportunity to get out of my 2016 2SS and into a 1LT vette for an extra $ 50 a month. Here is my thought process, I'd appreciate in put and I'd if u think I'm missing anything...

If there was ever an expert on 2015-16 performance cars (non-supercar) - it would be me. Why? Ive had 8 cars in the span of 2 years - 2016 Stingray and 2013 Grand Sport corvette, 2015 mustang V6 and 2016 GT, 2016 Nissan 370Z, 2016 Dodge Challenger Hemi and now 2016 Camaro SS. All of the above were new model years at the time. Lets just say I have some serious commitment issues

Hands down the best of the bunch has been the Camaro SS.

Heres why...

1. Camaro is the top rated sports car for 2016
2. Its 20K less than the Corvette for the EXACT SAME engine and performance - same 0-60
3. It clears curbs (a constant Corvette annoyance), has a back seat and you dont have to do a push-up to get out of it
4. Cost of ownership. Ill be honest here - Chevy just rapes the customer for corvette parts - factory and aftermarket. EVERYTHING is double with Corvette, its ridiculous. I had a broken headlight assembly from a rock hitting my 2016 stingray - $1800 to replace from the dealership - no thats not a typo and NO you cant do it yourself without breaking tabs, nor find it on Ebay cheap..
5. The Corvette is just not made to be daily driver for anyone but a single guy with no kids. Im not about to spend 60K on a garaged piece of fiberglass and plastic. Whats the point? Its a weird Corvette owner thing - buy it and never drive it.
6. The Camaro handles better (its very noticeable) because for 2016 it pipes over Caddy CTS handling parts. Its more refined without any loss of performance.
7. Hell for 20K more I can get EVERY SS option available, an extended warantee and a vacation to Hawaii.

The Corvette is the coolest looking car on the planet for less than 100K, no doubt - but the everyday grind of owning one gets really old fast. Cant count how many times I had to haul 2 people, but couldnt, had to back out sideways every morning like a grandma, stop at every dip in the road and parking ANYWHERE just sucked. That and just hope to hell you never need a part.

Corvette guys, I think, feel like they are part of some exclusive club (I felt that way), but in reality other more refined performance cars are just better IMO. This is from first hand experience and not some useless out your ass opinion that dominates forums.

Hope that helps!

Spot on comment!

Plenty of power as in, you could best one on the street all things being equal. We took my "old" 2016 Stingray to the track against my buddies 2016 SS and of the 3 runs it was too close to call other than who mashed the pedal first off the line was the eventual victor. I dont care about racing honestly, I just couldnt believe Chevy would put out a "lesser" status vehicle that could keep up or best its top line brand. (Z06 does not count)

My 2ss was 47 and they offered me the stingray for 48.5
Not even close to 20k.
A camaro ss with the same options as a bare bones Vette still isn't close to 28.5k

On true car they sell them for 50 and that is without negotiations or rebates.

.

I stopped reading after this you evidently dont know what ya talking about. (price and performance) And there is a video on this site that would contradict which one is faster. Ya are also basically saying a 300+ lb weight difference means nothing. I know which one is from PERSONAL experience . Push up? Ya scared of exercise? The C7 is nothing to get in and out of unless ya are sloppy fat.

Daily driver? What you cant afford more than one vehicle? PS When a bone Stock SS can lay down low 11s hero runs let me know

I can afford two corollas or kias, but not a camaro and vette. And hell if I'll be driving a corolla daily when there is a perfectly good sports car in the garage!

I'd never be able to drive a "non sports car" with a camaro or vette in the garage. It has always seemed so strange to me that people do that.

Just purchased a new 2016 SS. Im pretty excited. I wanted a C7 sooo bad but wifey wanted back seats and I couldn't really argue considering she didn't want me to get any muscle/sports car in the first place at all. Chevy salesman was really knowledgeable and said he had people stop and look at the C7s and compliment their looks all the time.

Test driving both I preferred the C7 It just felt like i was in a middle class super car. Or as close to one as ill ever get..

Im happy with my SS for now though its a hell of a car and faster than a COYOTE!

If we didn't really need the back seats though it woulda been a C7... Coulda got one like i wanted for around 7.5k more.
