I use Driven Racing Oil. They make direct-injection specific GM kits.

Notice that their advertising schtick says that turbocharged DI engines (those having the combo of both) need a special oil. Then they go and market their special oil for NA DI engines. That makes sense? Does their original research on turbocharged DI engine have any applicability to our NA DI engines? At the very least, I'm doubtful. And at $17/quart, I think I'll pass.

GM is the one having to warranty our LT1/LT4 equipped cars, and since they bothered to specifically formulate an oil for it, I'll assume the engineers considered the pre-detonation risk being raised by Driven (albeit for turbocharged DI engines mind you) when determining the oil additive pack requirement for the Camaro/Corvette.

Great thing about America is that if you don’t like or agree with them, you’re free to buy whatever oil you’d like.

Meanwhile my engine makes 1059 WHP on a stock LT1 crank running that oil so I’ll probably keep using Driven since I’m happy with my results.

I must have missed noticing that you were running a boosted engine (that's a LOT of power you are making!), and therefore have the kind of setup that Driven is selling to.

Thanks! I feel the same way, Driven really don’t seem to be chasing the standard “OEM maintenance/warranty” guys and agree that the standard GM-recommended oils are perfectly fine as well (which I ran boosted up to around 800 WHP with no issue). But I’ve been happy with the Driven product so far, hope it stays that way lol.
