NONONONONO

NEVER trust a non-manufacturer warranty. 99% of the time you will never use it or if you try then will find every/any reason to deny you. You would do better socking away the money they are going to want to charge you and/or saving $100 bucks a month and self-insuring.

That's been my answer. I don't buy any kind of extended warranties. Eventually you'll get one that will pay out and it might feel "worth it" in the moment, but you really need to look at what that costs over time.

They don't cover wear, abuse, and they typically have deductibles. My answer has been to save more money including the money I would have spent on a crappy warranty, and when a problem arises, I fix it my way.

Agree. I consider extended warranties to be escrow accounts against problems that may or probably won't happen.

Eh - we are rough 2 for 3 on the extended warananties

My wife's old A4 Audi - it paid off when Audi replaced pistons, rings, connecting rods and main bearings at 99k miles and 7 years to deal with high oil consumption. It wasn't actually covered by the warranty but because it was a CPO and had the extended warranty Audi did the work.

Audi S3 - paid for itself when the damn car ate a water pump at 65k miles.

2003 ZO6 - damn thing was bulletproof after the initial 3/36 was up till I sold it with 44k miles before it expired. I got a prorated refund. It did eat the 1-2 synchros and the dealer tossed a new T56 into it at about 20k miles.

..but take that with a grain of salt since I'm just a single datapoint..
