ZL1 1LE Supercar 3R's on the drag strip
So the title says it all. Anyone with experience launching these at the strip?
How much head do they need? Need to decide between these and PS4's for tomorrow's track rental. |

Get the PS4s. Just for reference I need about 2-3 warm up laps on a 3 mile circuit at 70-75% of my limit to get enough heat in them to get them to stick good.

Just trying to figure out if I should leave the PS4's on or swap to GY for the drag strip. |

3Rs are the stock tire right?
Zero experience with either of these tires at the dragstrip but I'd guess the 3Rs would perform better when properly warmed up since they're practically racing slicks. I'm interesting in hear the results if you do go with the PS4s since I'm getting some soon

Bring both 3R and PS4 rear tires and do runs with both

This car will suck at the strip. It’s just not it’s main mission. No weight transfer with the stiff suspension, 6 speed manual, etc.

There's plenty of fun to be had. I'd rather take a M6 to the dragstrip even though its slower. There will still be weight transfer, it's just not quite as much since the car won't squat as much but if we're talking stock for stock, the wider stickier rubber will help a bit. Manual for Manual -- I think the wing is the most detrimental element to the ZL1 1LE's 1/4 mile time.

True its not a drag car but GM still managed to get an 11.5 run out of it.
Run the stock rears with 15 lbs in them, see what it does and report back. I think it will surprise you. I have 8k miles on my car and I can personally vouch that when the tires are hot - they have excellent traction on a launch. when the tires are cold they are like power wheels tires. I seen a while back that someone had taken one to the track - but there was no mention of how it did. As far as the wing goes nearly all the 12 second and under every race cars ive ever seen had a wing or spoiler on it.

Anyone know how easy it is to remove? Is it glue+bolts or just bolted on? If its just bolts I'd call it another track configuration. Take it off at the drag strip.

To answer the OP’s question. In my experience the Goodyear’s responded well with a small burnout to put some heat in them. I tried just a quick spin to clean them off and they wouldn’t hook. On my second pass I gave a small 5 second or so burn out and they hooked much better. This was back in July on a warm day too. So if your in colder temps I would definitely warm them up good.
