Not to revive an old thread but was hoping someone could shed light on this.

The original part numbers everyone was using is:84177431 and 84177432.

One website said it was replaced by: 84491863 and 84491864.

They are slightly different in price and shipping is much less on most websites. I'm just wondering if there is an actual difference between these two part numbers or how I could actually find out before I order one or the other?

This is a goofmd thread to have at the top. The way to check is call a local dealership parts department and see if the numbers cross reference.
If you decide to go the aftermarket route, visit overkillautogarage.com we have a few options.

Dealership shows both as active numbers. But they’re not smart enough to to tell me if the parts are the same or what.
And it’s not a goof to have at the top. People are still wanting OEM rockers and not aftermarket.

This thread was super helpful to a lot of people. So you’re welcome.

This is a very good thread for sure.

I'm on the fence for going OEM ZL1 skirts or C7. After reading this thread front to back several times I looked up the parts, and got a quote from a local custom paint and body shop.
$275 OEM skirts ea and $650 painted two tone, body color NGM and gloss black blades. So $1,200 plus tax.

C7 $363 plus shipping, in gloss black.

Big difference here. So, my question to all: Is there any difference between the two in shape? Are the blade lengths and widths the same? Is spending (basically) $800 more for the OEM worth it?

Installation and working this gap is no problem for me so that's not an issue in the decision.

Any feedback and answers to these questions is greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all,
Michael

Update: GM has raised the side rockers price, by alot.

Excellent question. I’m in the same boat. My only real push for OEM rockers is my wheels have basically sand blasted the upper part of the rocker in front of the rear wheels. It’s not terrible, but I notice it.
C7 carbons offerings will not replace that. The OEM will. And I plan on wrapping them in clear Xpel or 3M so it doesn’t happen again.

That’s a better question for C7 or someone who’s worked with both the zl1 oem and the c7 skirts. The very first reason I went with oem is because there were no other aftermarket zl1 replicas made yet at the time so oem was my only option as I did not like any of the after market side skirts. Now that there are options out there the only valid reason I can think of for going oem is not having to drill into body panels and that if something were to happen to the zl1 oems , I would still have the stock lower panels to put back and pretend nothing ever happened. Also rock guards really do keep the panel in front of the read wheels chip free so I highly recommend after going with zl1 oem sideskirts

Thanks Jdelgado92.
That is what I was hoping for, someone with experience with both OEM and aftermarket skirts that could describe differences if any. Maybe calling C7 as you say (C7 seems to me to be a good choice based on quality, design and price) and asking them directly how the two compare. Good idea, I'll try and call them next week and ask. Will post answers for all.

They pop up on eBay, too, already painted. Price and condition vary.

I have the same problem with my car. Will have to bit the bullet and pay to have them fixed.

Well I finally got around to emailing C7 and asked about their Zl1 style side skirts. They said theirs is close to the OEM ZL1 skirts but not exactly the same. Here is the email response.

Our sideskirt are zl1 style but not an exact replica so they might have slight changes from actual zl1 sideskirts attached are some pictures.
Our sideskirts are made to fit all models except the zl1.
Let us know how we can help.

Thank you C7 for your help in answering questions.

I did get a chance a couple weeks ago to look at a friends ZL1 and looked closely at the skirts. After seeing them up close and uninstalled skirts here on the forum I can see a difference for sure.

It's going to cost more and require more effort in terms of painting to install OEM ZL1 side skirts, but I think it's worth it in the end.

The major difference I typically see is that the black portion on a real ZL1 skirt reaches the door line whereas the aftermarket add ons stop below it (possibly because that section is the same dimension on the ZL1 as the SS rocker and is just black). I'm going with the OEM ones and painting them myself. Probably do XPEL on them afterwards.
