Check your oil filter if you recently had an oil change
Only posting this as it seems to at least one other person is in the same situation as I.
Had my oil changed from the dealership October 02, 2023. Started noticing oil on the driveway and tried figuring out which car it was coming from and posted about it in the member journals Quote:

Finally went somewhat under the car and looks like it’s the same situation for me Hopefully it’s just isolated but on the potential possibility that batch of oil filters are at fault, I thought to share

I bet they most likely just double gasketed the filter. Dealerships suck.

Or they tighten the living shit out of them until the gasket is deformed beyond recognition
That happened to my daughters Mazda never had so much trouble removing a filter |

Check your oil level, no doubt you've lost a bit.
And ALWAYS check it before driving off the lot after a change (even if the lot is your own driveway). |

Interestingly it’s sitting right at half on the dipstick even with the amount that leaked out. Seems it only leaks when the cars sitting for a while. I am curious as to why it didn’t leak for a month and then it’s dripping more and more oil only after the first month

It maybe a bad batch of AC Delco oil filters especially the rubber gaskets on the filter. Back in the 80s when I had a 1982 Z28 and a 1987 IROC Z28 I would go to the local dealership to buy oil filters because I changed the oil myself and over time had probably 6 bad filters that leaked. The filter itself was good but the gasket was cut uneven or wavy looking and didn’t seal against the block. After that experience I started buying good quality aftermarket oil filters and haven’t had any issues with them.

Yep, I actually learned this a LONG time ago while dealing with an old Ford work van. Told my boss about it and he was perplexed how a very tight filter would leak.

Filter is only supposed to be tightened 3/4 of a turn past contact with the gasket, as indicated right on the PF64 filter itself. You can be sure 99.99% of dealer oil change guys are not following this and tightening the crap out of them. I'd put my money on dealer incompetence rather than some defect on the filter.

I do as much work as i can myself so I know it will be done right. The dealers seem to not know much about our cars and mess things up.

Also check that the filter is tight enough. They sometimes err that way. If loose, it can back off and start leaking.

Okay so idk what the odds are of this...
My buddy, years ago, had a 96 z28. Bought new at the time. Long story short he had something similar(if I recall correctly) come to find out the threads that you screw the filter on were warped. As if someone was putting the filter on but wobbled the hell out of it while they were screwing it in. This was over 20 years ago but I doubt this is a repeat. Hope not sad to see. Edit, just called him to bring up this memory. He said his filter that came on the vehicle was somewhat loose but still hanging on to the threads, you couldnt just pull it down an out it still needed to be unscrewed, and he only found out by a rattling noise on startup but did see oil anywhere he parked. He cannot remember if it was before or after his first oil change. But he had his car dropped off at the dealer and they worked out with the bank to get him a another car in the same price range. |

Ive used many pf64 filters (different and updated part numbers over the years) on diy oil changes for my dad's old equinox before he traded and once for my own Camaro. I seriously doubt it's an issue with the filter, more like the dealership hack who installed it. Either too loose or hulk tight without lubing the gasket.
