The C8 won't be available for ~6 months. It and the ZL1 cost more. You can get a GS at a pretty good discount right now.
Those prices include EVERY available discount and rebate. Including things like Chevy Loyalty, Competitor Conquest, Current College Student/Recent College Grad, Military, etc. 95% of people will not qualify for all of them. Most people will qualify for 2 or 3 at the most. Which means you'll get something like a $3K discount.

I’m probably going to buy one but I’m gonna wait a couple years. Primarily because reports are that six months ago they had Tomtotally redesign the wiring harness because the car was shorting out in many places, and the engine above the LT1 that is going to go in the car in a few years as a Z06 or above, was torquing the frame and shattering the rear window at speed… And I really don’t trust GM that this car is totally figured out.

I have both a SS 1LE and a GS (FBO). They are very similar cars.

But :

- Look is very different. The vette looks more the special car for sure
- Braking is way better on the vette
- Vette is faster in the corners and overall, but requires work at the limit. You need to be a better driver to extract the last tenths on a roadcourse. Difference is there still. Around 3s per lap in average
- Steering feel is slightly better perhaps on the camaro
- Lower center of gravity in the vette and you can feel it, same for the weight.
- Front end grip is incredible on the GS. Camaro will push at the limit. Tricky part is that the GS becomes tail happy.
- Clearly interior is better in the C7 but who cares ?
- GS or 1LE are noisy because of the tires. Worse on the GS

If you race your cars (Autocross or Roadcourse) making the switch is worth it, on the road not so much. I know a guy I race with, and in AutoX with exact same tires and sizes his stock 18 C7GS is slightly faster than his 19 ZL1 1LE...

As far as the C8...Lets wait for the reviews...seems so far interior quality is terrible, we don't know how good the dual clutch will be, there is no manual, look is not so great, mid engines cars can be tricky...I wish them sucess but nothing is won yet

I have yet to see one in person. I'll be going to a dealership next month to see them. But I have not heard reports describing the interior quality as "terrible". It might not be hand stitched leather of AMG quality but it also doesn't cost as much as an AMG would cost. So that needs to be factored in. It is a $60K to $75K vehicle and sacrifices have to be made somewhere. Overall I have heard that the interior quality is quite good and in line of what most would expect from a Corvette. The DCT will be amazing. Remember, the A10 was a first and GM knocked it out the park on the first swing. I have no doubt that they'll hit another home run with the DCT in the C8. Manual is preference and I wouldn't count that as a strike except for in a personal choice. Looks are subjective...but I think it looks amazing. Others do as well. And although ME cars can be tricky I do think GM has all their ducks in a row with this one. They have the whole world watching them so I'm sure they made an air tight vehicle for the first outing.

I think the Base C8 will just about be on the level of the C7 GS or somewhere close. The Z51 C8 should surpass the C7 GS.

The only C7 I would consider is a Z06. Anything lesser the C8 is going to demolish...the base C8 is reported to be a low 11 second car and will likely rival the ZL1 and Z06 in straight line performance stock vs stock. The advantage for the LT4 is how well it responds to mods. Good chance the C8 won't be as mod friendly so it could be tapped for performance in stock form with the new global B architecture in the ECU.

Corvettes are a pain in the ass to get in and out of if you are tall like me. My 6th gen is much more comfortable to drive then my brothers C7 Z. I think the ZL1 is GM's best all around car. It would be sweet if GM decided to drop the LT5 in them.

The C8 gets a good e.t. (11.3 released by GM), but that is due to the additional traction of the mid engine car. The C8 1/4 mile trap speed of 121 mph is only 1 mph better than my Mustang A10 GT (per C&D 12.1 @ 120 mph). That means the C8 will only take a ZL1 from a dig (stop) due to the traction advantages. At a roll, the ZL1 will accelerate more quickly and walk a C8. The ZL1 traps about 125 mph in the 1/4 mile. The Z06 even more so, which traps around 127 mph, and also goes 0-60 in 3.0 seconds (as tested). From a roll, the C7 Z06 will be much faster than a base or Z51 C8. Similar weight, 155 hp difference. All the advantages for the C8 in acceleration are due to improved traction at lower speeds due to the mid-engine design.

That said, 121 mph trap speed is no slouch and it will pull pretty hard from a roll compared to 99+% of the cars out there.

I agree with you and the premise that the c8 really shouldn't beat an lt4 car on a roll. Trap speed says as much.

I do find it funny that you say "my mustang a10", you're GT has never run 12.1 @120 lol.. and really neither did the one you referenced that ran 120 before the correction, but that part is besides the point. You also assigned the fastest run to your car without issue but referred to camaros that went over 115 as fliers or not indicative of the average.

Btw I know this is older and after we beat this topic to death on the other thread. I'm mostly just ribbing you lol.

couldnt complain about either the C7 or C8,although the C8 will probably get more attention the first couple of years.up to you whether thats good or bad.at least the C7 has had the bugs worked out of it.

1LE is losing value quickly. Maybe get into a better deal while you can
Especially if you do HPDE regularly
