From a dig the M5 will roast a zl1 but from a roll its a race for sure. They trap similar speeds.

I recently had a chance to try a 2019 BMW M5. I've never tried a BMW M before.
While I did not track the car or anything, I felt a little disappointed with it. The performance and driving experience, definitely on par with the Camaro, although I can imagine it would smoke it in a drag race. I'm glad I tried it though. The M5 has always been like a mythical beast for me. But it surely made me appreciate my Camaro more. |

My neighbor has a '13 black M5. He was nice enough to give me a ride in it to pick up my new SS at the dealer 1hr away.
He only punched it maybe once. Other times, he drove like a grandma (in the left lane no doubt). He's not really a car guy, just wanted the best 5 series. It's definitely quick. It's also muted and doesn't sound like much. His '13 is probably faster than my SS but not by much. Interior is really nice in the M5 as it should be since it was around $100K new. |

M5 is twin turbo V8 with hot-V turbos that make full torque around 1500-1700rpm, they typically dyno at the advertised HP and torque, meaning 575-600 of tq at the wheels, AWD too so no wheel slip. Oh yeah, and lightning fast shifts.
While you will probably take it on a proper track due to it's weight and inertia moments while turning, assuming you are a competent driver, as the M5 acceleration will make up for a lot, it's simply in a different class as far as straight-line. It's not even close.

I raced an x5 50i in my coyote stang and got beat The 50i motors, like an m5 are a twin turbo v8, with about 100hp less. So if we take 800lbs off that x5, and add 100hp, which is about what the m5 is, I can assure you that his m5 is quite a bit quicker |

That must have been the X5M. The standard X5 50i has 400 HP. The X5M has 555 HP. So if it wasn't the M then you should have easily beat him.

This was at a stopliight. Mustang does not get very good traction on the street. You have the old x5, starting in 2013 they were on a new motor and platform. It’s a full second faster to 60 than your x5 I suppose they also change the name and technically its an xdrive50i |
