1/2 mile drag at Speedfest, Michigan. Had to tow her home...
Had a mostly great day racing 1/2 mile drag at Battle Creek Speedfest 7/3. Lots of great cars and the ZL1 performed well.
Mine is an '18 A10 with the 100 hp bolt on mods. Kooks 2" long tubes, off road pipes, Matco lower pulley, MSD wires, tune, rotofab, mamo TB. 650 to the tires. 2600 miles. Still learning to launch the car. Have a couple posts in another thread regarding such but had a big stumble off line going WOT in TRACK and RACE. Guys saying prob better to launch in sport with one click of track control off...but topic for the other thread. Just brought up here as I thought it could be part of my other problem. On my 7th run at about the 1/2 mile finish, felt engine lose power and stumble a bit and had many lights come on at 155 mph. Just got out of it and went to finish line bull pen. Had check engine light flashing, dash flashing service rear axle, service stabilitrac, and engine was skipping a bit. No audible mechanical clunk sounds and no leaking fluids. Car would move and shift ok but definitely not running well. Decided to limp it 5 miles back to hotel. Tracked down a U haul truck and trailer on July 4th and towed her home to the tuner. Obviously w mods, concerned about warranty issues if it turns out big and related to the mods. Knew that going in and will face that when/if it comes. Some guys have already replied could be melted plug wire or electrical wiring around the headers. Hope it just that and will keep all posted when I find out more on Monday. (Tech are off rest of week). Last edited by Jimabe; 07-05-2018 at 09:05 PM. |

Good luck. Keep us posted. I highly doubt something mechanically happened to the engine, you'd have heard it and you'd know it immediately. It would have seized more than likely.
If your dealer turns out to be useless, PM me. |

Thanks
My tuner says they have a good relationship with a couple of local dealers, one of which is dealer I bought from if things get sticky, but will PM if things get there. Thanks again |

Hope it's nothing too bad. I have to ask though, what MPH did the car run? Have similar mods will likely do one locally in November.

I ran 158. My tuner was correct in that he said +100hp is about 10 mph in the 1/2 mile. There was a stock zl1 that ran 147.
Conditions were real hot and muggy. About 90-95 and humid. I did race a Shelby GT500 with 700 horse and he was disappointed that he ran same speed last year with 110 less hp. He said temps were 20+ cooler last year so speeds got to be higher in better conditions. He also got a good look at the backend of a ZL1! |

Here’s hoping you guys are right. I saw a pic from a thread here with boot protectors on a header install. Was going to buy some. Hoping that’s it...

all of those error codes point to a loose spark plug wire, burned plug, or melted plug wire. Good luck with the resolution!

Damn!! You guys are good!
Was a burned plug wire on the headers. Tuner put new plug and wire on, cleared the codes, and she’s as snotty as she was before. All in all, not bad. Thanks for the replies. |
