*Updated w/pics Bikes fell on my Camaro SS- Help!! :-(

So I walked out into my garage to find a horror movie.

My long time bike rack fell crashed into my car :-(
I just filed a claim but haven't spoken to anyone yet.

I need advice, What do I do to make this all right again

I don't want them to just cheap out my car was in almost showroom condition

Until I can get pics I have three major dents and scratches in the hood and one that looks like it went down into the primer, they are all about the size of a baseball.

Do I tell them I need a new hood??? Any advice would be amazing :-(

Is the damage just on the hood? If so I would've just bought a new hood and wouldn't have filed a claim.

Just get a new hood and have it painted or do it on your dime as not to have your rates raised or a mark on CarFax. Hoods can found pretty cheap these days.

You could have someone pull the dents out and get the hood repainted... that's what I would do but it's completely up to you.

New hood. Leave insurance out of it. Life sucks sometimes!

One option: Would look for a paintless dent repair shop & ask in person if they can get the dents out. Then who they recommend to air brush some paint over those spots. Dealers do it constantly.

Another option would be to check around salvage yards for a hood & have it painted to match.

As others have mentioned, would avoid a claim on insurance for something like this.

The obvious advice is to not hang stuff over cars or a place where it will fall onto a car. A friend had a shovel rack on the wall & apparently one of the shovels landed on his wifes new at the time Yukon hood. He paid out of pocket to fix. Though he did option one mentioned above & was less than $200.

New hood from eBay, and wrap it black.

I would claim it against either homeowner or car insurance, and then have the hood repaired. It may not look nice, but a skilled shop will make short work of the damage.

This is an example of why I never hang items, shelves, etc too close or above my car in a garage. Too much is left to chance for an incident. I also double check all hanging shelves, and anything underroof.

Good luck.

Hell yea make a claim, that is what insurance is for. Your rates shouldn't go up and if they do find another company. I would look at what the deductible is and decide if its worth to upgrade to carbon or not. Either way it can be fixed or replaced.

It doesn't cost anything to call your insurance agent and ask how much it might raise your rates.

Calling your agent doesn't automatically make it a claim. That is part of an agent's job, to give you advice.
