Dead Battery - New Duralast H7 AGM

Yesterday, I went to move my SS...the door unlocked, but that was all the juice it had. The battery wouldn't even unlatch the trunk to gain access to the battery. I had to put a charger on the jump lug under the hood to charge it enough to open the trunk.

Relatives will be flying in in a few days and I need the car up 100%.

It's a 2014 with 30,000. Same exact battery that was in my 2014 GMC that went out 7-8 months ago. They must put a timer in these Delco batteries that kills them.

Drove all around town in SoCal looking for a battery. Costco, Sams, no fit. Sears, the line was an hour deep. Landed in Autozone. They had a perfectly sized replacement H7 in a few grades. I went for the AGM (absorbed glass Matt) technology like I put in the truck. $225 out the door.

Anyone have good or bad info on Duralast batteries?

How do you go through batteries in two years?

I just had the biggest Delco they had at the dealer installed for $185. Almost 6 years and I noticed it was cranking slow. When I went to buy it they gave me a price and asked if I wanted it installed for $25. I said "Hell Yes" and went to BS with my salesman for 20 minutes. Wind chill was -33.

Edit: 770 cold cranking amps.

My original Delco did not even last a year. It had a short inside the battery and got so hot you could hardly touch it. I went with the Duralast Platinum and have not had any problems since. I used to work for Autozone and feel they have the best battery and warranty on the market.

Didn't they offer to replace it or even give you your money back?

Yep. Best batteries I've ever bought and more cold cranking amps than a comparable red top and a 3 year warranty.

XS Power is what I recommend. But agm is the best way to go. Last the longest and can take deep deep cycles and come back to life.

With all the electronics in cars today, AGM is the way to go (absorbed glass matt). More CCA, better reserve time and longer replacement warranty. At least if this one fails OP, you can have it replaced free of charge (3 + 5 year warranty).

Do you have the ability to put a battery tender on when not used?

I changed out my factory battery on my SS after 5 years just because I felt it was due.
Put in a Interstate MTP-94R H7. That was 2 years ago. Replacing the battery before it
fails is a lot easier then getting stuck somewhere with a dead batter.

I just bought a new battery for my tractor. The battery was only 12 years old. Bought a boat battery at the same time as the old 8 year old battery was getting weak. Motorcraft in the tractor and Interstate in the boat. Both were replaced with interstate batteries. I use the AGM Autocraft in my Harley. Autocraft and Duralast batteries are made by East Penn Manufacturing.

My Camaro is on the original battery. Both my 07 Land Rover and 08 BMW are still on their original battery too. my 03 Lexus has only had the battery replaced once.
