L99 vs Ls3 camaro difference!!

This thread isn't about the technical and mechanical differences, but about about actually owning them and which one I liked better. Back in 2011 I bought a 2011 camaro 2ss L99 and Loved the car but hated the amount of butt dyno I felt stock, I had to buy headers, ported throttle body, vararam intake, flow master exhaust and a dyno tune just so I wouldn't feel like my "new" camaro was slow. Now with that said, I recently traded in that car for a 2013 camaro 2ss Ls3 loaded, and I love it I can't keep myself from driving it. This car stock was just as fast as my old one after putting over 3K into it. MPG is better on the LS3 than the L99 except for highway, which then I got about one extra MPG but all in all LS3 was better on fuel economy. Obviously I can talk about the interior differences but that wouldn't be far because if I had a 2011 Ls3 then I wouldn't have the my link with nav. either. Exhaust stock sounds a lot better on the LS3.

stock L99 rwhp: about 320... with mods I had 363
stock Ls3 rwhp: haven't dynod it yet but around 360-370.

If anyone has any questions about anything regarding the differences that I haven't talked about yet I will be happy to answer them.

Isn't the SS supposed to be around 400+ hp? Are you sure the numbers you posted are correct? My v6 gets 300+ hp, i don't see how mine gets so close to the SS and mine is a 2010.

He's talking about rear-wheel horsepower (RWHP) and you are talking about crank horsepower. There is some loss between the crank and the wheels.

You get about 250 RWHP which is what the OP is talking about.

I'm sure you're right, but you better brace yourself for the flaming you're about to get.

This BS never gets old. Maybe we should compare V6-V8 here as well.

When i drove the manual, I think it was the shifting that made it feel faster / more responsive.

I have an Automatic, and I pulled away from a 2011 SS w/ LS3 pretty good on 4 runs ("private road") with LT headers, cat delete, resonator delete, to single chamber flowmasters and a CAI at the time, that dyno'd at 369 rwhp and 386 torque before I SC'd it...

I didn't race one prior to the upgrades, so couldn't compare stock to stock there...

Nonetheless, living in California i'm glad i went with Automatic instead of Manual, any other state might have had a different outcome.

L99- Comes in Automatic Trans. Variable Valve Timing, AFM cuts out cylinders to save gas while cruising.(Junk), 400 crank HP due to cam specs for afm lifters. Less Duration, Less Lift. Lower Compression due to relief in pistons.

LS3- Comes in Manual. 426 crank HP.

L99 can be converted to LS3.

If the difference is so big then why are the stock 1/4 mile times so close?

This should be interesting.. It's been a few days since the last V6 vs V8 vs L99 vs LS3 vs LLT vs LFX debate.

This thread is giving my opinion, I personally have had both and my other one was faster only because of how fast the transmission shifts. That's why the 1/4 mile is about the same but for the actual power wise stock for stock the ls3 has more power. I don't mind traffic only because I love stick and I think of it as just practice goin. Out of first gear, because the ls3 clutch is almost springy and is a little more difficult to drive versus other sticks.
