Songs on USB drive being played in random order.

There's something I must not be doing correct. I have the shuffle feature turned off, but the stereo is playing the songs on my USB drive in a random order. Albums are in their own folders and the songs are contained in those folders.

Sometimes it will play a few songs within the folder in the correct order, then move to a random song in another folder and so on. Sometimes is just picks songs randomly in different folders to play.

Am I missing a setting somewhere?

It depends on the file name, it does not go by the folder it's in but it will go by the file name attached to the song. It goes first in numerical then alphabetical order unless you turn on shuffle, then it's random and mine will sometimes get stuck in a loop and play the same few songs over and over.

Yep, and does it get frustrating when you have over 600 songs but keep hearing the same 25 or so...

That explains it. I guess I'll stick with streaming music from my phone until I can install my Pioneer X920BT.

Hmm, mine goes by track number of the file, not alphabetically. I did have one album (Boards of Canada, Geogaddi) that switched to playing alphabetically recently after a re-index, but I pulled it off the thumb drive, indexed, put it back on the thumb drive, re-indexed, then all was good again.

I bet the track number is in the file name before the song name. That's the only time mine goes by track number.

Upon further review, this appears to be the case.
