Flooring an A6 from a roll

Anyone else with a A6 SS feel slugish when flooring it. Lag or just gear sticking. Seems like it doesn't shift all the way down after flooring it and just picks up in whatever gear it is in. I have a vitesse throttle controller, even at 9 it just still feels this way. I'm debating on getting a tune but idk if that'll fix my problem or not. Maybe bad gas?

Car just feels different at times, like everytime I floor it I get a different result, I just want a consistent whiplash feeling.

Long story short... Get a tune, it will get rid of that. It due to your AFM, it's chevy way to help gas mileage.

Or, you could spend $200 on an AFM Disabler from Range Technologies. There are dozens of posts about it on the forums. I just put mine in the other night and it's definitely a noticeable difference when punching it from a roll.

Alternatively, you could keep it in sport mode and use the paddle shifters. Last weekend a made a trip to Tulsa where I kept it in sport mode for the first time. It's incredibly responsive (and fun to drive too!) when you drop it into 4th from 65 and punch it. RPMs hit about 6000 and you are definitely finding the back of your seat.

The A6 has a lot of room for transmission tuning. Part of it is very conservative tuning from the factory. After dynosteve sent me a tune for my SCT X4, the car has behaved entirely differently.

I did a little experiment when I thought this was a problem..my buddy has a 5.0.....we did a couple of quick runs..not racing... from a few different speeds. These were runs under the speed limit and we stopped as we went past the speed limit. What I found was that 4 of the 7 runs the car would lag...I found I had to be going faster then 30mph. When it lagged the 5.0 would leave me sitting...but the 3 times it didn't..the car took off like a shot...and went door to door with the mustang. My buddy has always owned chevy . he knows all about the afm....he test drove my car and agreed with what I thought..the car from a low speed roll is in the afm range engagement rpm....and is in between going from 4 to 8 cylinders. That lag I think is the time the cars takes to decide what its doing. Im convinced that is why the range makes the car run so much better. But as posted a tune is your best bet.

Thank guys I was starting to think something was wrong. I will look I to getting either a tune or a range, any suggestions? If I go with a tune it'll be after I install new headers.

Mine is tuned with headers etc. If I floor it under 30 mph, the tires break loose and the car slips to the right. Get a tune.

A6 not just an issue with an SS. I have a 2011 2LT, massive flair between 2 & 3. Twice returned to dealership. First time they replaced the TCM. Second time they upgraded the transmission software. (and charged me for soft wear upgrade). Both temporary fixes. My 2011 A6 only slightly above 7,000 miles.

Love my Camaro but worst auto transmission I have experienced in the last 40 years.
