I'm just saying that AFM is what holds the L99 back, regardless of the situation (cruising, hard starts, drags, etc.). It isn't based on anything logical, IMO. You can do a hard start in a L99 but the AFM will still kick in at some point - killing the engine's full potential.

Obviously, a full tune-out of AFM and establishing new shift points is best, performance-wise, but just the elimination of AFM by the Range device is a HUGE improvement. You know that, nyrfan.

I just feel that if L99 owners never had to experience AFM, they wouldn't be nearly as critical of the autos. Mine is a whole new animal since the Range device came along (and I think you would agree).

I do agree with you that the range device is a great option.

I would prefer the extra HP and torque of a LS3... I just don't want to push in a clutch pedal anymore. LOVE the L99 (with AFM delete).

Why are y'all getting so butt hurt about the OP? He wasn't being hostile about the L99... he just gave his ACTUAL comparison, which is true btw. The L99 is SLOW without a tune and bolt ons.

It used to be that you had to have a manual for it to be a 'real' sports car. Times have changed though. Look at Porsche and their auto (PDK). The thing can shift faster than a human can shift their manual. There's even rumors of them getting away from manual transmissions.
What you have to do is decide on what feels right for you and buy it. Forget the mine vs. yours mentality.
